My 1st WDW Resort

I'm new to DIS, so I apologize if this thread has been done before. However, I thought it would be interesting to discuss the resort that was picked for your first WDW trip. I made my first trip in July 2011 and chose Wilderness Lodge. Initially, I was going to chose AKL. However, my boyfriend insisted on going to WL instead. After some resistance I decided to take the plunge.

I'm so glad I made that decision. I was literally speechless after walking into the lobby. The pictures didn't do it enough justice. Once I was able to collect my thoughts, I was left speechless again with the room. I was assigned a courtyard view room on the fourth floor. I had a great view of Bay Lake and the erupting geyser. Needless to say, this will be a resort that I will keep in mind for future visits.

We made the same decision for our first trip in 2007, and haven't convinced ourselves to stay anywhere else since. We really love WL!

We stayed at Coronado Springs for our first trip in 2005. Back then, I wasn't aware this site existed until I was bit by the WDW bug and found it while I was doing some online searching. If I would have known about this site, I probably would have chose another hotel, but it was still a great trip. Last summer we stayed at the WL and yes the lobby is breathtaking. Can't wait to go back there sometime again.

My first husband and I had a choice of two in 1977; Poly or Contemporary. We chose Contemporary because of the monorail going through it. I have stayed at many of the WDW resorts since that time. Although I own at Beach Club Villas my favorite resort is Boardwalk Inn.

off site in 1994 was the holiday inn sunspree(i believe that is what it called) and stayed there and various off site hotels 15+ times, but onsite it was CSR, since then we have done PORx2 and BCx2, and will be doing a split stay between poly and POR and then in Feb we will be trying out AoA

Our first resort was AsMu--was picked for us as we went with a large group. The first one we picked for ourselves was CBR.

My very first trip was for my honeymoon in 2002 and we stayed at the Doubletree on Hotel Plaza Blvd. my first on site stay was 2 years later at All star music. We have stayed at music several times and at Pop. Next year we hope to try a moderate. Our favorite of the values is definitely Pop.

Our 1st time will be in December. 1 night in a BLT theme park view and then 5 nights in a AKV savannah view room. I'm pretty certain we will be ruined after that trip!

I honestly can't say where my first stay was because I was 3! I am fairly certain it was offsite though. I always wanted to stay at a wdw resort, but parents always said it was "too expensive." I stayed offsite 2 other times, once when I went to a twirling competition with my coach and a second time when I marched with my band in high school. The next trip I was 17, and there for the first Twirlmania at WDW (year before it was at universal). Our group stayed at All Star Sports, I wasn't too thrilled, but happy to be on property. Next, was my honeymoon, DH and I were young and just starting out so we stayed at ASMovies. We loved it! Stayed there two more times, but then 2 years ago decided to book BCV for a huge family trip. We attempted to book value for our upcoming trip....and I had to switch it. We are now trying a mod (CBR), because we invited my parents and are paying for their room otherwise I probably would have tried convincing DH to book the poly!

My 1st WDW resort stay was with my family 20 yrs ago at ASMu, prior to that we always stayed at FW, my mom's favorite.

The 1st resort my DH and I stayed at together was ASMo. Since then we have stayed at CBR, and 3 times at the Poly with our 4th time coming up soon. Next year I would like to try WL.

I would love to hear how your trip goes. I'm hoping to make a holiday visit next year and these two resorts are at the top of my list for consideration.

First onsite WDW stay was the Poly in 1987. First visit to WDW (in 1971) was offsite but I don't remember where. i was just a kid and not interested in the hotel.

Our first was AoA Lion King suites back in January! We picked it because a) we wanted to be totally immersed in Disney theme from when we arrived to when we left and b) it was new. We absolutely loved it and will be heading back there next time, only to the Cars section!

AKL Jambo Club level. It was for my delayed (by 5 years) honeymoon and it spoiled my DH. He has never been and I always stayed off site prior to that trip. Every time we go back and stay at a mod he asks "why aren't we staying at .., (insert deluxe)". I wish we could every time, andI have been toying with the idea of renting DVC points to get us back to a deluxe, cause I miss it too! And BTW there is nothing more magical for me than watching giraffes and zebras from your balcony with a glass of wine!
