bringing sodas aboard

We are planning our first cruise but was wondering if and what we can bring. We are avid mountain dew drinkers along with sweet tea.Every Disney trip we bring a cooler on wheels and have it packed with gallon sweet tea and many mountain dews. Will we be able to bring this with us.Disney is under contract with coke(they don't even sell mountain dew or Pepsi products at Hess gas stations) so I know they won't have it for sale on the ship

Yes, you can bring sodas on in your carry-on luggage.

The part that others may have to answer, is that DCL prohibits some of the coolers - so that might be an issue. Someone here will have that answer for sure though.

You can't bring the rolling cooler on board, but you can pack all the beverages you want in your carry on. Just be aware that you will have to drag it around the ship with you until your stateroom is ready.

You won't be able to bring your cooler onboard.

From the DCL website:
Q:
What food or food storage containers are not permitted?

A:
Food coolers containing personal snack foods and drinks may not be brought onboard. They are only permitted if needed for medications, baby food or items related to special dietary needs.

Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable items plus any open snack containers cannot be brought on board. Limitations on permitted food items are directly related to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention.

Disney Cruise Line regrets that the crew members on board are unable to provide food preparation, refrigeration or storage for personal food or beverage items. Disney Cruise Line cannot verify the cleanliness of the environment in which pre-cooked or homemade food items were prepared, and so for the safety of all Guests and crew, these items are not permitted aboard the ship.

Alcohol is permitted on board. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep. Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area. Guests who arrive in the dining room with a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought on board will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.

Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage.

AND

Q:
What items are not permitted on board?

A:
In order to maintain a safe and secure environment for our Guests and crew, the following are examples of items that Guests are not allowed to bring on board. These and other similar items will be confiscated upon being found.
"Large Ice Coolers (Please note: small, personal-sized coolers, no larger than 12" x 12" x 12" brought onboard for the purpose of housing medications are permitted as carry-on luggage.)
"Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable food items plus any open snack containers

Sweet Tea is hard find outside the Mason-Dixon line and that includes cruise ships I sorta resent when I ask for Sweet Team and they bring Iced tea and two sugar packets :/

As for your question, do not bring coolers as they aren't allowed. You, however, can bring all the Mountain Dew your carry-on can muster. But, honestly, free sodas, juice and coffee 24/7 I think you guys can manage.

In addition to being prohibited, coolers are unnecessary. There is an empty mini-fridge in each stateroom to keep beverages cool.

I don't believe the classic ships have had the staterooms furnished with real refrigerators yet, but we keep a few cans/bottles in the ice bucket whenever we bring drinks with us.

Regarding sweet tea, if you take a travel cup and brew hot tea yourself at the drink station you can make your own sweet tea. It takes a little while to get to that point but the taste is worth it.

Wow, no MD on the ship. I'll live, trust me, but like the OP, its one of my most famous drinks. I don't drink soda like i used to, but when i do, i try to have myself some, or some type of Lemon-Lime derivative.

I made a mistake, many moons ago. I purchased a case of MD, and after chugging 3 in 1 day. Let's say i could of played WR for the Eagles, because my energy level and "peppyness" were at an all time high.

Can you use trolley cases, as long as they fall within the dimensions stated above?

Yes. DH is addicted(!) to Diet Dr. Pepper so we have a collapsible luggage cart to wheel his multiple packs of the stuff onboard. Sometimes at Port Canaveral they "request" that you cover up the cans with a plastic garbage bag, which is fine. When we boarded the Wonder in Los Angeles last May, they didn't care, tho the crew on the ship asked us to share. They were just kidding. I think.

Here in NC Mtn Dew is big because of Dale Jr, but a local favorite is Sun Drop. All of the sugary lemon-limeness you could stand.
