Exclamation Arghh! When did this happen?!! - Off-site Parking

So...I researched off site parking a few weeks ago, and multiple sites had prepaid parking at $4/day. Now they all have more than doubled!!!

Feeling the hurt a little more as we have two cars to park, double the pleasure...

Had I known, I would not have procrastinated. No one's fault but my own, just passing along to warn others or to see if anyone has another off site tip/location!

sigh.

Bummer. Would it have changed if you had made a reservation? For instance, with parkportcanaveral.com, I always book a reservation and then it lets me decide if I want to pay now or pay later. I always select pay later, but I wonder if that kind of reservation would still go up or not? I'm going to keep your tips in mind for May. I may go ahead and pay them in advance and not have to worry about it (if we still end up driving, which we more than likely will unless a Delta card miracle happens.)

I think I see what has happened. At least two of the parking lots are closed because of "unexpected FL DOT construction" blocking their entrances?! One is "cruise parking of port Canaveral". I wonder if the others are taking advantage of this current lack of competition, or if the prices always go up later in the summer.

sigh.

My parents booked parkportcanaveral and paid $3.95 a day. When I went to book a week later it was $7.95! This was a week ago. Not sure if it's gone higher than that.

I procrastinated too. I knew I should have jumped on that $4/day price when I saw it here. Now I'm hoping they will offer another special.

Exactly.

Cruise fare; insanely large.

Car at port, pre and post, pricey, but Priceless
Think Visa commercial.

Last time we did a shuttle, I wish I had a weapon. lol. A CAR of my own.

It's only money. lol. I call it/classify it as a shuttle deliverance fee.

It's another personal choice/decision that needs to be made along the path to DCL and your ultimate goal.

Park cheap, or park right next to the ship. Of course it will cost you, but .....

Now to be fair, you could park a mile away and only pay 4 - 6 $ a day. But isn't it much more satisfying to pay triple retail to stay sheltered and protected by PC security while aboard.

That was informative. lol. And I don't even work for the port in FL.

Good luck to all.

They charge less than $4 per day for parking in Florida? The parking meters in Seattle charge $4 per hour. All day parking at the cruise terminal is $28. Many hotels charge $40 per day.

Would a park/sleep/sail hotel be a better deal? Even if you don't use the room?

These rates change based on the month you book them in. I haven't been able to determine a rhyme or reason but I check it about once a month (at parkcanevaral) to "reserve" it at the 3.95 rate. I am not sure what month I made reservations last year but this year I did it March 24th and got the 8 days of parking for $34. All I can tell you is to check back once a month and see if the rate goes down.

We are planning to park at the port parking. Is there any advantage to pre-paying?

The only advantage I see is that its one less thing to worry about if you've already paid it before hand. We are thinking of using one of the area hotels that offer 40% off parking at the port so prepaying will not work for us.
