Ugh! Flight time changes. Can I make it?

So, our flight times changed and they now have us on a 10:27am out of MCO. Can I comfortably make this on a Sunday getting off the Dream or will it be really tight? We have a rental car we'll be parking at the port although if anyone tells me it would be much faster , we can cancel that and just do car service,

I would do DCL transfers. They will tell you to let them know that you have an early flight and you will be the first people off the ship once it clears customs. I now always stay over an extra day for that very reason.

No, car service or rental car. Won't spend the $ for DCL transfers for 5 people. I can always call and request a later flight but wanted to get a sense how easy ( or not) this would be first.

Either should be fine then. Someone who has been on that itinerary will have to let you know when the ship clears customs, but it's usually by 7:30am. All passengers normally have to be off the ship by 9am or so. It should take you at most an hour to drive to the airport. You won't have a lot of time, but you should do ok. Check to see if any of the airlines have check-in at the port. I know that Delta does in Barcelona(not sure what they do in Port Canaveral).

PC does not have a Delta check in desk at the port.

OP...You can't even use the Onboard Airline Check Program because your flight is too early but....

As long as you check in from the ship (on your own dime through internet access) and barring no delays in the ship getting back to port or an accident on the highway or a long back up through security you should be fine.

Do express walkoff and take your own bags off the ship and be waiting by the big doors when they clear customs so you can be some of the first off the ship.

Have you accepted the flight change yet? If you have not, then tell the airline the earlier time is no good for you and request a different flight. The airlines will often try to accommodate you on a different flight for no charge (as long as you don' t accept the flight change yet.

Since DCL started the Onboard Airline Checkin program a few years ago, none of the airlines have check in desks at Port Canaveral any more. Unfortunately for the OP, the earliest flight time for Onboard check in is 11:30am, so they will have to claim their bags and clear customs with them, then check them in at the airport. A 10:27 flight could be pushing it, especially if the ship is late into port or doesn't clear customs as early as it usually does. The other problem could be getting through security at the airport - we've had to wait in line for close to an hour a couple of times and Sunday mornings are usually pretty busy at MCO.

We usually book a flight leaving MCO between 10:30 am and 11:30 am. Not once have we ever missed a flight, nor even come close. We are usually through security and sitting at the gate with 30-45 mins to go.

You'll be fine.

You can do self debarkation and get off early. The last time I did the Dream we did that had breakfast at Cabanas and were in the car by 830am

Well, the car at 8:30am really won't get me comfortably to a 10:27am flight. I think I'll just switch to a later flight. It sucks because later flights have no seating available to grab now. I hate traveling with kids and not having assigned seats. Annoying when I booked 6 mths ago!

I agree, your best bet is to get a later flight. A flight out at 10:27 am will really be pushing it. I know what you mean about flight time changes. When I booked flights back in March our return flight was leaving MCO at 4:10 pm, that way we would have some extra time on our last day at the resort. Now, the flight leaves MCO at 1:10.

It is really annoying and it seems it happens all the time now. The worst part is you book early, you get the seats you want and if they switch you & you need to pick a diff flight, there are often no seats left to pre-assign

This is an easy fix and done by many. First go on your airline website and find a flight that will work for you. You might want to have a couple of options. Next call the airline and tell them the flight time that they switched you to will not work for your family. They will move your flight without a fee. We have gone from cheap flights to very expensive direct flights without paying more.

Yes, I am aware of how it works. The next flight isn't until 4pm now so I wanted to see if we could make that one work but I agree. Too close. I am thinking I may add a day after cruise now since I can do that for free.
