Best Souvenirs?

Hey guys! I'm leaving for disney in 5 days! What are the best souvenirs you guys have ever got. And how much did they cost? What about souvenirs for a 13 year old girl? All responses will be appreciated.

For the 13 year old go to Japan and get her a " Pick a Pearl ". It is fabulous and something she would have forever. To do this costs about $17 per oyster. She would choose an oyster from the tank and then they do a cute little ceremony to open it ( they all have pearls inside ). The if you want you can have it put into a setting of a ring , pendant , or such. I would recommend a" cage". They are reasonably priced and she can put the pearl in herself and open it back up to look at it at any time. I did one of these and have gotten many compliments on it. Nice piece of jewelry for years to come. there is a thread on here that shows great pictures of some of the settings. For you , I am a clock lover so I got an adorable little anniversary clock with Mickey " riding " on each of the balls on the bottom. I have had it for many years and it always makes me smile. Enjoy your trip and your shopping.

I'm attracted to functional souvenirs, the ones that don't necessarily scream WDW but are ones that you KNOW were purchased there? So please keep this in mind. From our most recent trip (6/29 - 7/02), we purchased the following:

1. A guitar strap from RockNRoller Coaster store. DS actually has been needing one. For the quality and the cool design, it was priced comparable to outside the park at $39.99.

2. A 2T coffee scoop. LOL! It's a metal scoop. We make coffee daily and use plastic scoops. In the back of my mind, I've been wanting a non-plastic one. The one from WDW has a Mickey hand on the end of the handle and other designs on it that are pure WDW. It makes me smile to use it every morning! It was $9.95.

3. R2D2 souvenir popcorn bucket. $10. It was just too fun.

From other trips...

I participate in the animation class at Disney Quest. I buy a print out of my drawing. I buy the package that comes also includes a pin. I think the package is $12.99?

Great Photopass photos. Price varies.

A skirt by Kariza designs from the Animal Kingdom. I debated it for a long time because I thought that I might be able to get one cheaper outside the parks. DH convinced me to just get it. When I looked online at home, I discovered that the park price was actually more expensive. I love this skirt! $34.

A knit sundress with a subtle Mickey head included in the pattern. $25.

From Epcot. Skill-sized soccer balls from around the world. Soccer jersey from the football/rugby store in UK. Soccer coaching book from the same store (we didn't buy it at first because I was convinced that I could buy it outside the parks, but I couldn't find it, so we bought it on our next trip.) Chopsticks from Japan. Marionette style puppet from China (DS was really into puppets for a while). Souvenir beer mugs from Germany and UK (Still use them!)

Whenever I can incorporate a slice of Disney into my everyday life...I guess this is something of the definition of a souvenir? Something that reminds you of the trip? LOL!

I agree, the Japan pick a pearl is very cool for a girl. It is $17 for the pearl, but you do have to pay extra for a setting. That can run from $30+ I think.

Squished pennies are also a good souvenir. You can collect as many as you want. All different types.

They're also doing limited edition mouse ears hats all this year.

Thanks for that! About how big are the pearls. Are they real?! Wow I have been there about 50 times and I have never even seen that. Thanks a lot!

At Epcot here is a little stand in the African Outpost, that sells earrings, bracelets and necklaces made from recycled Disney brochures. I picked up several earrings for $7.00 each. They are very cute. Have fun shopping.

It's hard to explain how big 6.75 mm is That is the size of the one I have . You do not HAVE to buy a setting for it either. They give it to you in a little ziplock bag for safe keeping and they also offer a little glass jar with a small amount of colored sand in it to store it in. They are real pearls , and they shine them all up for you .

I love my coffee mugs. They fit nicely in my hand, keep my coffee relatively warm and bring a smile to my grumpy face every morning!

My daughter (12) and I have done pick a pearl many times and it is such a fun experience for us. Yes they are real- over the years they have ranged from 6.75- 7.50 cm. Last trip my daughter got a beautiful blueish/black pearl- it is awesome!

My favorite souvenirs are Christmas ornaments. I get one from the store in DD and it has the year we were there. They average around 25.00. I also love the beach towel that I got as a purchase with purchase for 12.00. Everytime I go to the pool , beach or waterpark I think of my wonderful trips to Disney. I also have a pair of mickey head earrings that I LOVE and I wear every trip to Disney- cost about 25.00?! And a camera strap for my camera- also about 25.00.

Probably the thing that I've got the most use out of is the refillable mugs. I use mine every morning to have coffee during my morning commute Also, I always get a couple Christmas ornaments. One with the year on it and others because they are fun. Someday my whole tree will be Disney.

DD (11) got a backpack the last time we went.

I guess we like to have a little "magic" in our day when we return to reality after visiting.

Our favorite are the princess juice glasses from Germany in Epcot. We even got our daughters names etched on them. They are beautiful and each has their favorite princess on it! I believe they were only around $12 a piece!
Have fun!!
