I got my DCL book today, I have already read most of it online when I purchased it about 5 weeks ago.

? For those that have gotten their new Cruise Passporter

How up to date is it? I am always on these boards so I really do not need it for myself - but we will be cruising with 10 others this November on the Dream and I was thinking it might be something for them. None of them have ever been on a Disney cruise and have no interest in going on these boards. I though the book might be able to give them some insite on the DCL.

Thanks,
Linda

As a general reference on DCL, its probably the best one out there. They do have a hard time keeping it up to date, which is probably why they stopped naming the book by the year, but for someone who has not been on a Disney cruise, it is quite useful.

My two cents worth: The Passporter guides are great for beginners. It gives a very good overview of DCL and the ships. For excursions and newer itineraries, you will want the boards. I think the Passporter book would be a super gift for new cruisers. I just got the newest for my dad.

Pre-orders through Amazon delayed again

Got email from Amazon today saying that the expected delivery has been delayed yet again.

We're writing about the order you placed on February 16, 2013 (Order#
xxxxxxxxxxxx). Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed
below has changed, and we need to provide you with a new delivery estimate based
on the new release date:

Dave Marx, Jennifer Marx "PassPorter's Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports of
Call"
Estimated arrival date: August 22, 2013

On the passporter.com site, I see conflicting dates (either shipping on or before July 25, or on or before August 1), but if you are in a hurry to get the book, I would go with direct from passporter. You also get access to the e-book when you order through them

I just received an e-mail from Amazon that the estimated arrival date for my Passporter order (placed July 3) has been pushed out (again) to 8/22.

I don't know why people bother ordering it from Amazon as most of the time it seem that they put the wrong date for release, they then go and turn around and blame Passporter for not publishing it when Amazon says they will. If you want to order it go to the passporter website and get it there and you will receive better service then with Amazon.

Edit to add. From PassPorter, not Amazon.

Amazon doesn't just make up arbitrary release dates. Miraculously, Amazon and Barnes and Noble both show August 20th as the expected publication date. Even Passporter doesn't always meet their target dates.

From their newsletter on 3/28
PASSPORTER NEWS

Just a quick update on our upcoming edition of PassPorter's Disney Cruise Line guidebook… the 11th edition is nearing completion and we hope to open pre-orders in about one month. Once pre-orders open, the Online Edition will become available immediately and print editions will follow about 4-6 weeks later. Please stay tuned for details in our upcoming newsletters

Seems like it should have been shipped by them before 7/25

Amazon sent email that the expected date for deliver is now sooner than expected. Deliver should be by 8/9 now, instead of the 8/22 date they had sent in email previously
