New Passporter for Cruise

Anyone heard the exact date that the new Passporter will be released? Amazon says August 2013. We cruise in September but if it doesn't come out until the end of the month I don't want to pre-order it.

I preordered it last month and Amazon tells me it will be delivered by
August 15th, but (if I remember correctly) the first delivery estimate was in July and it has been pushed back.

They're notoriously late and by the time it comes out, the info in it is a year old. I think that's why they stopped putting years on the cover. I'd just go with whatever is out there.

I ordered the forthcoming Passporter from Amazon on Thanksgiving day last year. The same day that I booked our August 3rd Fantasy cruise.
I just checked my emails from Amazon. The original release date was on in January. It has been postponed six times. I finally cancelled it the last time it was postponed.

From passporter:

"The print books of new 11th edition of PassPorter's Disney Cruise Line guidebook are expected to begin shipping July 25. Anyone who orders their copy through the PassPorter Store receives immediate access to the full Online Edition. "

Is it worth ordering the passporter? What info would be available in the book that wouldn't be accessible on the Disboards?

is it worth ordering Passporter?

since u r already here, and thus have access to the MOST up to date info (some of it passed along by people actually on board!), the answer is NO!

That is my opinion.....remember, opinions cost nothing and they are worth the price.

but given the notorious delays in publication and the aggravation that goes along with them, why bother?

some people just like to read and re-read and have something to hold in their hands....I OVERPLAN (our next cruise is 8/2017!) but, at some point, know enough to just give in to whatever happens

It's a decent book that tells as much about Disney Cruises in one place as any other source. Other than the authors constantly injecting themselves into the book, it does have a good amount of information. Yes, you can get most of it online, including here, but its a decent reference. They also have a WDW book for the overplanners. If you've never been on a cruise (or maybe even a Disney cruise), the DCL book is a good read.

If you're looking for up to date cruise info, or excursion information, you're better off here or online somewhere...

i purchased one on our first dcl cruise and i was amazed at what i didn't know i didn't know.
this forum is awesome however having the book was so helpful. i was able to highlight things i wanted to remember. it told me about things that may have been threads on the board but i must have missed. the book was dog eared before i traveled. i packed it and took it and never looked back. money well spent.
that was the only time i did purchase it but i do not regret the purchase as it gave me loads of insight i would not have had. after that purchase though i didn't see the point as i had all the basics of the ships and as far as the ports go, well, they can change quicker than the book.
if its your first cruise i would recommend it but thats just me. happy sailing.

The 11th edition was to have come out in February 2013 and has been postponed numerous. In I wrote them in June they said it would be the beginning of July. Now it is August. I have no confidence in when it will be out. Just found an e=mail from them.

"We're finishing up the port chapter now -- June or July is what I project.

I sent them an email, but never got a response. Does anybody know if the latest edition will include the southern ports?

Their website says July. Amazon's says August. now, I know that Amazon doesn't just make stuff up, but it seems it's been notoriously wrong for passporter, or at least weirdly off.

And they have the book content; order it through passporter and you get the ebook NOW. Seems it's just a physical-book issue.
