Need suggestions for first night

It will just be my mom and I on a mini-trip. We won't be going to a park our first night and I want to go somewhere fun for dinner. It needs to be a 1 credit dinner. I'm not a big fan of downtown disney and would prefer not to go there. I'm thinking about maybe exploring a deluxe resort. We're staying at Pop. Any suggestions?

How about either Sanaa (Kidani) or Boma (Jambo) at AKL or Kouzzina at the Boardwalk? Sanaa and Boma give you a chance to get out AKL which is a beautiful resort with a lot to see. Kouzzina (while isn't for our personal taste) gets a lot of good reviews, plus it gives you a chance to walk around the Boardwalk at night and take in some of the performers, sights, sounds and smells. Both AKL and the Boardwalk offer good food and some night time activities outside of the parks.

I agree with the above poster!

Kouzzina was the first place I thought of. We have enjoyed every meal we've had there.

I think these are excellent suggestions! The Boardwalk is so much fun and you could actually explore 3 deluxes plus swan/dolphin in one night. Plus, if you are up for it you can even walk to Fantasia mini golf from there.

Another thought is Kona and watching Wishes from the Poly beach.

I'd go with Boma or Sanaa at AKL (Boma would be my preference) and spend some time checking out AKL. There really is a lot to see with multiple savannah views, the lobby is amazing, there are cultural storytellers, etc. If you are there around dusk, they offer the opportunity to use night vision goggles to watch the animals in the dark.
