Went to Disneyland Hong Kong in November 2008. It was all done up for Christmas and they had THE most realistic Santa Claus Ive ever seen, he was amazing! Myself & my sister (rip) were on the start of our gap year, and stopping in HK on the way to Oz. so we joined the queue for our photos with Santa... Aged 29 and 23.. And while we were queuing this little man (that may sound racist but both of us were over 6ft in bare feet so in HK many people were tiny in comparison to us) asked us to take a photo for him. So my sister obliged and stepped out of the queue to take his camera but he immediately started saying no no no photo photo and gesturing. We were baffled until we realised he wanted a picture with US!!!

So we both stepped out of the queue and he gave someone his camera, then hopped between us, put his arms around and smiled wifely. Afterwards, he was all thanky thanky and we just smiled, a little bemused and headed back to the queue only to be stopped by anothet... And another... And anoter for a photo... Eventually we met Santa about 30 mins later.

To this day i dont lnow what the attraction of photos with is was unless maybe our height. We dont look alike, I was on the chunky side so it wasnt a "stunning girls alert" or anyth like that but the memory makes me smile - oh how we laughed afterwards - and that santa claus remains my favourite ever - i'll go grab a picture to post!

Never before have i had a queue of people waiting for photos with me let alone at disney 😛

My moment occurred on Soarin' about 3 or 4 years ago. We had just boarded, I removed my flip flops & placed them on the floor in front of me like you're supposed to. We were in the front/top row & once I was done fixing the restraint like every mature guy in his mid 20s I was swinging my legs back & forward.

Which was all good fun until the ride started, we moved forward just as I was swinging my leg forward, my toe hooked onto my flip flop & I catapulted it right at the screen into the hole in the front.

When the ride finished I explained what happened to the ride CM who kindly had another CM bring me a new pair of flip flops from the shop free of charge. I don't know if they were messing with me or what but they brought Minnie Mouse ones, I took the situation in good humour & as karma then spent the entire day at EPCOT wearing Minnie Mouse flip flops.

My son's first trip. He was almost 3. We were at HS and I decide to take my son back to the hotel by myself so DH could have some fun.

I was a relatively new parent (DS is adopted and hadn't been home long) and I hadn't learned all my managing my stuff and my child skills yet. SO I let DS buy a sucker on the way out so that he could be entertained on the bus ride back to the hotel.

Getting on the bus was a challenge for us. In the commotion of it all DS dropped the sucker on that nasty bus floor. You guessed it. It was in his mouth again before I had a chance to react. A mom looked at me stunned that I let that happen. I told her that the germs were in the mouth already. I wasn't going to make him cry by taking it away. She continued giving me a look like I should be concerned that child protective services was going to show up at the hotel.

I was a bit dumbstruck & mostly worried about the ride stopping due to flip-flop in the mechanism.

Towards the end of the line I notice my Dad had snuck in front of me despite my vigilance. Well I give him a great big old bear hug from behind and said " Dad! I want to be first!" Then the man who is wrapped in my arms looks down behind him and it is NOT my dad but a complete stranger! I was so mortified. I went and hung out behind my brother and parents and refused to be first. I'm over 30 now and still think about this every time I'm in the space mountain line.

To make you feel better, that is NOTHING.

On one of our first trips to WDW, our youngest was four or five, and very attached to DW. Heck, the youngest is STILL very attached to the DW.

One day at MK, DW was wearing khaki shorts and a red shirt. We were at Frontier Land waiting to get on the train and more people were trying to get into the loading area, so the crowd moved forward a few feet. Our youngest was just at the right height to see most people's waist, so the youngest had been seeing DW's khaki shorts and red shirt all day long...

After the crowd moved, our youngest hugged the person wearing khaki shorts and a red shirt, AND started rubbing the person's leg. Not only was our youngest hugging and rubbing the khaki persons leg, but our youngest's HAND slid UP the khaki shorts!

Of course the person wearing khaki shorts and a red shirt was NOT DW but another woman! At first, the woman looked at me thinking I had been hugging her, stroking her leg and sliding my hand up her shorts! You should have seen her face. She looked down and saw our youngest, who at about that time looked up, and realized that THIS WAS NOT MY MOMMY!

I just laughed but I don't think the lady was so amused.

A few trips later, a little kid hugged me just like you described, realized their mistake, and then hid behind their parents.

Later,
Dan

Ha! Lots of hugging and fondling of strangers in this thread. I'm glad I'm not alone.

EPCOT should be safe though right? Um, no.

Couple of years ago on the way out of Epcot we stop to watch the Fountain dance to the music. I was really into what was going on, but noticed that DH and DS had moved the grandkids back away from the rail where I was standing. The music had ended and I heard a loud BOOM. That BOOM was the final large blast of water going waaaay up. Whatever goes up, must come down. By the time I realized that I was going to get it, it was too late to move. It was like someone dumping a swimming pool full of water over my head. I was soaked head to toe, heck I couldn't have been any wetter if I taken a swim IN the fountain. From behind me I hear my family laughing hysterically at me and I hear this complete stranger on his phone talking to someone about how soaked this lady just got at the fountain
I asked DH and DS why they had moved, they said that while I was so involved with the "show" they had realized how wet the ground was on that side of the fountain and knew what that meant. When I asked them why they didn't tell me the answer was "and miss this, no way!!"

On the way out of the park that day I had lots of strange looks being drenched to the bone like I was.
I'm reading these and only got halfway through yours before deciding to read it to DH. Growing up, my mom was the same way. You were guaranteed to get soaked if you sat next to her. I was doing just fine reading this out loud until I got to the reason your DH and DS didn't tell you to move back. I can't tell you the last time I laughed so hard that I couldn't breathe and had tears pouring from my eyes! It took me a good three minutes before I could choke out "and miss this, no way!"

Thanks for the laugh!

So - the question has to be asked: do you still wear them?

And how did they have them in your size anyway?

About 5-yrs ago DD and I went on a trip alone. She was 14 at the time. We had dinner at Cape May Cafe and hopped on the bus to DTD from the resort afterwards. We hadn't been on the bus more than two minutes when I could feel my stomach twisting, churning, bubbling and anything else nasty that comes to mind. By the time we finally hit DTD I had broken into a cold clammy sweat and I had one thing and one thing only on my mind - FIND A BATHROOM!! I got off the bus and it seemed as if everyone and their brother were walking in front of me. Needless to say - I try to be polite and respectful to all people but that night small children and elderly people went flying

I think I have them somewhere in the loft. I most definitely do not still wear them, they were retired after that day.

They were maybe 1 or 2 sizes too small (my guess is they were womens flip-flops), but flip-flops being flip-flops they were at least workable. There were a few times my heel would slip over the edge & hit red hot sunbaked pavement. But they were free & was a reminder to behave on rides in the future.

I didn't even think about what I was wearing until I got soaked and as I got of the ride DH and DS, then 18, began laughing so hard DS almost couldn't breathe. I was completely see through! I had of course color coordinated and was wearing white undergarments. I was so embarrassed and livid at my family I stomped out of the park. As we walked out on man actually fell over his kids stroller and stumbled down the bridge on your way to the Tree of Life. All DH and DS did was walk behind me howling with laughter.

...
It could have been worse. Far worse.

In 2007, our first trip to WDW with the kids was very memorable.

We went to AK and rode KRR. Of course, the only person to get really soaked was the DW. After the ride, she and our youngest went to the bathroom and they were in there for a very long time. They were in the bathroom for so long I was starting to worry, but eventually, they emerged but the wife had this odd look on her face...

I asked DW what took them so long and she gave me this look that said do you really want to know? Well, DUH, Yeah!

As they were leaving the bathroom, there was a young woman standing in front of the hand drying machines. Nothing wrong with that right? Well, she was wearing no clothes from the waist down. The woman had just ridden KRR and had gotten soaked. She was wearing THIN cotton shorts, going commando, and with thin, wet cotton shorts, well, she might as well have wearing nothing at all.

The lady was using the hand dryer to dry her shorts, which left her literally bared butted in the bathroom. My DW was nice enough to stand near the woman to block the view of her bare buttedness.

After I congratulated my DW for being so nice, I asked if she got any pictures. Which for some reason, got me ANOTHER look AND a most unDisney slap on the arm.

What did I do wrong?

Later,
Dan
