Yes. He had dropped a toy or pacifier and it bounced under the bush. He went to get it and was bitten.

I'm still reeling that someone said snakes were ON Tom Sawyer island....as in...INSIDE the park!

I hate snakes just like the average smart woman...but lord help mercy, if there was ever a place on earth were dreams come true, that means it's a locale where I can take a step and not have to think about snakes!

I had no idea I had to watch out for snakes inside the park!

We saw a small snake on the sidewalk at Springfield suites. It was too tiny to ID but I skipped and hopped my way to the car.

I'm going to have to be careful where I plan to take my 82 year old parents in the fall. If Mama saw a snake, that might be the end of her!

I'm far less worried about the small chance of a snake in comparison to the Pterydactyls roaming around Frontierland or near La Hacienda. They are fierce and unrelenting. Snake ...schmake, those birds are stalkers!!!

I called the front desk and they sent a crew to come kill it, and we were able to move rooms and get 1 night comp'd. The manager was great and in the heat of the moment I just wanted it resolved. The crew initially thought it was the poisonous Colorado snake but it was just a corn snake. Still... a snake... in my suitcase at Disney World. Not exactly magical.

I'm posting this just as an FYI - ground floor/water view are really nice but I'll never request it again.

Just curious... has anyone else had this or something similar happen?
OMG...I would have had a heart attack !!!!

This past May we were at the Beach Club, walking to Epcot via the sidewalks closest to the park. We saw a snake right outside the sliding door of a 1st floor room. I almost died!

No more ground floor rooms for me!

One time we were on the bridge near Kali River Rapids watching for my husband and oldest son to pass underneath and there was a black/orange/white snake under the front wheels of our stroller!! At first it was so brightly colored I thought it was a decoration or something, it looked too perfect to even be real, and then I saw it move! I FREAKED OUT! I remember the man standing next to me calmly looked over and said "They don't call this Animal Kingdom for nothing".

I've seen many lizards of course, and also we had an armadillo on the front porch of our Wilderness Cabin probably looking for food. Luckily I've never seen a gator, that's my biggest fear. Of course it is Florida folks!

Oh.My.God.

Pure panic would've been my response. I have a room request at POP for my August vacation for 60s lakeview. I think I'll call and add "non ground floor" to that request now.

It is Florida, one should always be aware that there are snakes everywhere. It simply isn't possible to keep them off Disney property, short of closing it up in a plastic bubble.

On Wednesday while waiting for "regular maintenance" on the Epcot monorail at the TTC, a black racer snake was on the platform and tried to get in our monorail car.

I've seen them there on more than one occasion (black racers every time). It's in the middle of water, there's lots of trees and cool places for them to hide... a perfect place to find them.

We was at the Beach club in June. Quite pool area had two snakes around it! And we reported them not once, not twice , not three times but 4 times and about 3 and half hours later someone shows up to take " care" of them. They were not poisonous but could of still bitten someone who stepped on them! I am not scared of snakes but still gave me the webbie Jebbies when they only caught one because the other fellow decided to take a hike in the grass area outside our room. Just because they are not poisonous doesnt mean they don't bite!

I hate it when people remind me its florida. I saw a snake in my backyard here in the northeast and i still ran screaming like a fool into the house. Doesnt matter where i see them. They petrify me.
Saw a anaconda...i mean a atleast 4ft black racer slither into the bushes right in front of the room at pofq. I was hanging out on the rail on 2nd floor n it came from the pool area to the bushes. Man... i ran thru that area when i had to. And was glad i wasnt in that room!
Saw a huge alligator hanging out sunning itself by one of those ponds coming out of animal kingdom. That was very very cool.
I do enjoy fla wildlife...at a distance
The snakes...not at all.
I think that resort where the child was bit was at carribean beach. I remember reading that right before we stayed there.

I think that the resort where the child was bitten was Pop Century. I also hate it when people say "It's Florida. You can expect to see snakes." I do think that Disney can do a better job controlling the population of snakes around the property. I just don't like the idea that it's Florida so you just have to share your vacation with a snake. I live near New Orleans. When visitors get shot or robbed, we don't say "Well, you decided to vacation in New Orleans. You should have known you'll get shot or robbed at least once."
