I guess living next to the swamp in louisiana we already know never ever leave your door open. Heck I don't even leave my screen porch door open because I dont want to find any type of critter on my porch either!

I still have nightmares of new years even when I was about 16 and the door to our house was left open because kids were running in and out to get food/do fireworks and a large snake was seen hanging from a lampshade in the living room. My mom thought it was a fake rubber snake and almost had a heartattack when she went to grab it off the lamp shade and it moved. She screamed louder than all the fireworks.

Snakes in rooms shouldn't be an issue if you keep your doors closed.

Yes, this is common sense. Perhaps you could pass this on to Disney Housekeeping, who are famous for propping the door open while they clean the rooms.

I have seen snakes almost everywhere. I even saw one that was scary and black crawling across the GF's grounds into the lake. Since we are sharing our critter stories, I was at the Poly when I was like 12 and rescued a squirrel from a rat trap.

Squirrels are just rats with fuzzy tails.

I would rather have a snake AND a spider than a frog and that's what I got in my ASMU room.

I always felt like that snake had a little help getting to that level of the building. Either someone intentionally carried it up there and released it on that floor (thinking it would be "funny") or it hitched a ride on a housekeeping or maintenance cart. I'm sure more snakes find their way in to ground floor rooms at the value resorts (where the doors open directly to the outside) than any of the other resorts simply due to logistics.

You couldn't live where I live. We have tree frogs and toads galore. I counted 9 tree frogs and 3 toads on my front porch last night. I think they're cute. My dog thinks they're tasty.

Now, if I had a spider in my room I'd be sleeping with one eye open. They'd probably have to move me. I had a grass spider (big brown sucker) in my laundry room, and I just about climbed into the dryer.

I used to live in Miami and ever since we had an alligator show up on our back porch (I kid you not) a few days after having a snake in our bathroom (this was all the week we moved in too) I learned that whenever I'm in FL to avoid the ground floor. :P Actually I tend to avoid it no matter where I go for safety reasons. Plus in my opinion any kind of view a room has is much better the more elevated you are

Yes, this. Me too, me too!!! Give me a snake any day over a creepy-crawly spider. I think snakes are kinda cool.

Last Sept at BC our porch was COVERED in cob webs and spiders it was obvious no one had been out there to clean but spiders is the one thing that freaks DH out. I walked out onto the balcony (I'm short) didn't notice at first I was looking at our view, DH walks out behind me and runs into 3 cob webs before he was standing next to me. We turn to look and saw all the cob webs and got the heck off that balcony!!
