Oh. My. God.

Props to you for handling it the way you did because seriously, I would have freaked and got the heck off that property. Did you have clothes in there? They should pay for you to get them cleaned. So gross.

Snakes can climb you know. Ground floor isn't the ultimate solution.

Playing the odds here folks! You are going to find more "friends" in/near ground floor rooms than higher floors.

While I don't consider myself afraid of snakes finding one in my suitcase would have definitely freaked me out. I'm sure I'd spend the rest of my trip waiting to find another one in my bed, dresser, clothes, etc. and totally freak myself out.

We've had a few issues with critters on the ground floor in Florida hotels (not Disney) and the more I read here the more I think upper floor may be a normal request for us in the future.

hello request for top floor this september.

I honestly never even thought about snakes when i've gone to disney before.
I dont know why i havent.. seeing that it is the south and there are snakes there, duh.
I'm the kind of person who goes to the zoo and sees a snake in an enclosure and runs away. I keep picturing the snake bursting through the glass. ha.

I wish i never found these boards (j/k not really). I could have went about my fantasy filled days at disney thinking snakes did not exist. haha

but now... this will be me walking around --- hello, snakes? any of you here?

We've stayed at Pop Century many times, a lot of those on the first floor. In fact, we once had four rooms all in a row and needed first floor for medical reasons. Number of snakes we have seen either outside or in? Zero. Nadda. None. We've seen more Sandhill Cranes there than snakes.

I do have a question for the OP - did you see Disney actually kill the snake? I thought they just moved it to another location.

Just what I thought of! In Florida, you are not 'safe' anywhere when it comes to snakes, lizards, and gators.

We saw a baby snake outside our ground floor Pop room in Building 9 last October. I know it had a momma and some siblings around there somewhere, but it was out for a little adventure on its own.

Glad you didn't have a heart attack or anything - and it was nice to get a free night's stay for your momentary freak out.

I'd still rather have a snake in my room than a spider
