Showing up with less people than on the ressie

The party will be a extended family, 5 adults and 3 children. However, the youngest child has issues since he is autistic. On the regular dining plan and have a table service set for each day. There are several character meals and the dinner show at the Poly scheduled and they all have the disclaimer about the no show fee.

However, on any given day, this child may not be able to hold it together for a sit down meal at the time scheduled. At least one adult and possibly two would skip meal to deal with whatever he needs and the rest of the family would eat as scheduled.

But the question is, will there be a $10 person charge for each no show on the reservations? Or is it enough that some of the group shows up?

They made the ADR's thinking that the buffets would be good because he can see and pick only the food that he likes and that he could meet characters without the pressure of standing in long lines. But are worried about incurring fees if it does not work on some days.

No. If partial party shows up you won't be charged for those that did t make it.

There won't be a problem at all. No extra charges. Just tell them I've had to. My ds10 is Autistic and I have had to completely cancel a meal because of a meltdown. They understand and are wonderful about it.

As others have said, as long as one person turns up, you won't be changed the no show fee for anyone.

The Spirit of Aloha show at the Poly may fall under a different case though. Since that is a prepaid event, the rules are slightly different. If the show is a few days into the trip, you may want to ask at concierge how they would likely handle it (I'd suggest not calling Disney dining, as they have a miserable track record on these types of questions).

TRs: Learning to NOT Photograph Fireworks Behind Trees (Sept 2012 PTR (no TR... yet?)
New Camera? Sounds like a perfect excuse for another Disney trip! (Sept 2011 PTR/TR)
Cafeen takes it slow in Sept... (Sept 2010) || Daddy for a week... - (Sept 2009)

Yes - I definitely agree. The dinner shows are not handled the same as the Table Service Credit card hold dining options. I would certainly inquire and let them know about your situation.

Thank you all for this information. That makes one less thing for them to worry about.

The little boy has been getting Mickey and Friends mail - since January he has received a letter each week. Each letter has information about one ride or one thing to see or one activity to do. I think Mickey will have his friends Lilo and Stitch do a social story letter about the Spirit of Aloha show at the Poly. That should help with getting him to want to go to that particular ADR.

the problem you are going to have is that you have the luau booked. This is full prepayment, not a credit card hold. Not sure you will be able to remove anyone from the reservation for a refund past the regular cancellation date. Don't know if it's different if you booked it with the dining plan as that is not a prepayment.

A little off topic but where did you sign up for the Mickey and friends mail?

It sounds like it might be perfect to help prepare my little guy.

If they have any problems at any of the prepaid meals, ask to speak to a manager at the restaurant and explain the situation. Since this isn't a case of people just not turning up, I would be surprised if they made your friends pay for their son or whose who were looking after him. Disney are wonderful with situations like this. We know a family that had a little girl who has autism that went to CRT. She had to leave even before the entree and one of the parents took her out while the rest of the family stayed. The server refunded those two meals because they were hardly there and only met one Princess before the girl had a meltdown.

They can also speak to the concierge in their hotel who also might be able to help but try and speak with someone from the restaurant first
