Can You Recommend a Board Game for Teens?

We have all the usual games~Monopoly, Life, Sorry, Yahtzee and Uno. We could use a fun new board game or card game. It has to be competitive and fun for teens and adults. 2-4 players~ TIA!

I can think of a couple. Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride are supposed to be very fun games.

Do you know how to play Euchre or Bridge? Or what about Hearts or Spades?

Hearts or Spades is a good starting game to learn trump cards and taking tricks. And very competitive and fun.

Unless of course you already play, then I would move on to Euchre. After that you have Bridge.

Rummikub has been one of my favorite games since I was a teen. Now, we play with my kids.

Have to learn to budget somehow. Want the latest video game? Save up. Want a new Beyblade? save up. Want a new Dooney and Burke? Grab the credit card out of DH's wallet...

Munchkin

(Original, Zombie, Apocolypse, Star, Fu, Bites, Cthulu--they are all fun)

It's 3+ players though.

Just taught our 9year old how to play, and he loves it. Mainly because he can cheat, and get away with it sometimes. The rules say so.

Just bought Muchkin Zombie and Munchkin Apocolypse. MA is definitely different---the Seals add an extra to the game.

Mine are 14 and 16. They both like Euchre (as the PP mentioned) and poker (we just play with chips, not money) as card games.

One we got a few months ago that they and their friends really like is Headbandz for adults. Don't let the "for adults" scare you off--it isn't an inappropriate game, they are just differentiating from the little kid version that was what came out first.

They are older games, but my teens also really like, and often pull out Scattegories and Taboo.

Phase 10 is a lot of fun. It is a lot like Contract Rummy. Canasta is another fun card game. We play Apples to Apples, Scattagories, and Taboo. We also play Hearts. When I go to my aunt's house, everyone puts in a dollar - for the night. Whoever wins for the night gets the dollars (usually 4, haha)

I'm not even sure if the game is made anymore, but a favorite of ours when we were teenagers was Stocks and Bonds. It was playing the stock market with pretend companies, trying to make as much money as possible while trying to keep your opponents from making money. It doesn't sound like much fun as I've described it, but it really was fun.

We also like Mille Bournes, a French travel card game. I know that one is still available.

Taboo is a favorite.

But card games are always good and a deck or two of cards is cheap and you can take them anywhere.

Cranium (any of the versions) and Scotland Yard are two of my favorites.
