Beach day in costa maya?

We are on a 7 day western Caribbean in late sept and were thinking a beach day for costa maya since its a short port day! Any suggestions of what beach/resort to go with! It's 3 adults and 2 children! Thanks!

I wouldn't wander too far from the ship. We are just doing one of the beach excursions offered in the Port Adventures. It just seems safer.

I would have preferred a sea day, rather than a super short day at Costa Maya. At least we get to sleep in some haha!

Tropicante was great. The only thing that was annoying was all the people walking up and down the beach trying to get you to buy stuff. I go sick of saying "no thank you." DH had a 30 min massage for $15 that he really liked. The food and drinks were good too.

We loved our day at Maya Chan when we were in Costa Maya in December. It's a private beach. They give/gave Disney cruisers a discount because of the shorter day.

Check out the Trip Advisor reviews.

Yes! Tropicante is AWESOME! We used to only get off for about 30 minutes in Costa Maya, but now we LOOK for cruises there, so we can go to Tropicante! $2.00 cab fare, free beach chairs, and $25.00 for a ONE-HOUR massage under the palm trees. (We hated to leave.) The guy he runs Tropicante is originally from Plano, TX. Just email him in advance so he knows to save some chairs for you. The vendors are pushy at first, but will leave you alone if you if you say no, thank you. (And they didn't approach during the massage.)

We were at Maya Chan 2 weeks ago. It was the BEST day of our cruise! Can't wait to go back again.

Do they offer Massages at Maya Chan? Do you have to arrange for them in advance? How are the prices?

There were massages and my husband arranged his while we were there. In fact, the staff came around to see who wanted one. He enjoyed it, but what we really loved was lounging around in our private palapa, sipping fruity drinks in our floaty chairs tied to an umbrella in the ocean (Hugo, the bartender delivered them to us out there!) and enjoying how much fun our 10 year old had playing in the sand and snorkeling. The lunch was delicious and I appreciated the fresh water showers for cleaning up before heading back the the ship. The staff arranged all the transportation--it is included in the price. There were only 12 people there that day--all from our ship. There's no doubt it was our son's favourite day of the entire 14 day cruise!

Last November went to Maya Chan with our 8 year old daughter and it was one of the highlights of our cruise. You pay for it all in advance and the owner will email you a confirmation and answer any questions. It was an AMAZING day in paradise.

Based upon reviews like this we booked at Maya Chan. When at Maya Chan did you have any problems with vendors walking the beach looking for you to buy stuff from them. That has always been one of my least favorite things about Mexican beaches and other Caribbean beaches. No want to relax and not feel harassed by people trying to sell me bracelets all day.

There are no venders at Maya Chan. It is private.

We ALWAYS have a great time at Maya Chan!

for those of you who have stayed at Maya Chan... does everybody get one of those little private cabana-type enclosure things? I saw pix on Travel Advisor and it looks really nice. I'm slightly put off by the long ride, but it seems worth it to get away from the vendors and have privacy. Just want to make sure I'm getting an accurate handle on it.

TIA!

Maya Chan is amazing! Yes, every group has a private area with papala.

I will never go anywhere else in Costa Maya!
