Is citi mini big enough?

Hi everyone,

I tried to squeeze my DS4 into a barely used Chicco Cortina. He barely fits, and his head hit the top of the stroller that the shade can't be folded down.

So I am now concerned that he won't be able to fit into a citi mini. I was looking forward to renting one from Apple stroller since they are running a cheap deal right now. DS4 is 42inches and 42lbs, and I am sure he will only get bigger for our Sept trip. Has anyone had a big kid in citi mini and was able to fold down the shade?

It's my regular stroller at home and I have no problem, but my son is narrow, so if your son is wide, I can't say. However, the seat is soft and given structure by cushioning, so even a snug fit would just mold to your son's body and be comfortable. The canopy has to be the largest out there. It's so nice because it offers a full range of cover. If he gets really tall and has a long torso, then his head might hit the folds of the canopy at the top, but you can just push these up. You really aren't going to find a nicer stroller for around the parks, even if it isn't perfect. No stroller is perfect, but for weight/easy of use, maneuvering, canopy cover, ride, it can't be beat. I literally tried every stroller on the market before buying 4 years back. I was even convincing others in the boutique baby stores to buy the city mini- something I don't think they always liked because they preferred to sell the $1000 models. However, those aren't any better if you have to fold and carry them anywhere.

the weight limit on the city mini is 50lbs. Baby Jogger doesn't list a height limit themselves, but kingdom strollers (another rental company) says that the stroller is good for kids up to 44" tall.

My 45 inch, 50 lb 5 year old fits fine in the citi mini (though it's not as easy to push as it was when he was a little guy).

The shade brushes his head when I put it down and it might actually touch his head (I'm not sure) but he doesn't complain. I know he gets mad if I rest anything on the shade (like my bag when I'm getting something out of it) so it must be somewhat close, but, like I said, he's never complained so I don't really know.

The shade is actually awesome on the citi mini!

If you're concerned you could go with the next model up which I think goes to 75 lbs or so (and I assume a taller height limit).

Height limits don't really make sense for strollers because really it depends more on proportion. My son has a long torso and he's fine.

My DD4 who will be 5 tomorrow is about your DS's height and weight and she still fits perfectly in her City Micro so I think you'd be fine.

if you're concerned about the fit of the city mini, take your child to a babies r us or a buy buy baby and see if they fit in the city mini. it's a popular stroller, and most stores should have a model to 'try out' in store.

My son is only 16 months and we have a City Mini GT. I love the stroller. But I will say that when the shade is folded closed, it brushes his head occasionally depending on how straight up he's sitting. When it's pulled out to give him shade, he has plenty of room and it's nowhere near his head. The shades can be removed completely though so if it really bothered him, I could take it off and put it back on if/when we needed shade.
