After helping my daughter ice and then soak her knee and wrist... I went to find a manager and voiced my concerns over it. I shudder to think if this happened to a smaller child. I did contact Disney guest relations and spoke with a CM and discussed my concerns as well over the 1)maintenance (how does a door come completely off it's hinges and fall on a child??) and 2)the lack of concern shown both initially and after I went to discuss it with a manager (there was no follow up as promised the next day).

All in all, it just left a sour taste in my mouth and since it happened so recently, mama bear hasn't gotten over it, and poor DD doesn't know if she wants to ever be there again.

We had a lovely stay there last year, but this year was very, very different...from that incident to he general daily mousekeeping we experienced.

It just happened a few weeks ago, and I'm still pretty disgusted by it and how it was handled.
This is not OK at any resort, park or otherwise. Nothing should fall onto anyone. My DD just had two major surgeries( arm and leg and oral surgery). Nothing better fall on her or hurt her in anyway.

We stayed at the BC a few years ago and had no problems with Mousekeeping. Just had problems with checkin and our room wasn't ready by 3p. Their computers were down and someone took my KTTW card and ran off to check on our room. Well we ended up missing an ADR that evening...and didn't get into our room until 7p. We would have gone back to the park if my KTTW card wasn't taken to check on our room.
We also had issues with noisy neighbors too. Would hear screaming every morning when the child was woken up, and then when they got back at night more screaming and then followed by the TV turned up loud watching the news. I don't know how that child slept with that TV on....because we didn't.

Not defending BC (although it is one of my fav resorts), but honestly, these types of reviews will pop up at any WDW resort. Seems like whatever one we have booked seems to get a cycle of "bad reviews" right after we book it

Also, remember that folks seem quicker to report the bad rather than the good, thus I think all reviews might be slightly skewed to the negative.

If you find your room not up to snuff for some reason, don't hesitate to contact Mousekeeping or maintenance. Not only will they make it right for your trip (hopefully) but it will be in good order for the next guest (or next 100).

The carpet consistently looked like it was in need of very good vacuuming (lots of crumbs and other debris) and it was buckled pretty badly - like ripples high enough that I felt I needed to look down when walking because I was afraid I'd get caught up and twist an ankle.
this exactly. we were there in April too and this is very true. we stayed cl and i was not impressed with that either.

I agree that you can have good and bad reviews and experiences no matter where you stay. For us, the deal breaker was the noise. I didn't mention earlier that we had an awful experience with another guest. We got caught on a rain storm and many people ran into the hotel for cover. Our family saw an open elevator and ran in there. Apparently this woman was waiting to go on the elevator and chewed us out brutally, in front of my kids too. It was an honest mistake. We did not know they were waiting for the elevator. I was shocked at her language and stunned. I blurted out to our kids that she was an example of how not to act. We stepped out of the elevator and she still abusively yelled after us. I cried. It ruined my day. Not BC's fault of course but leaves a bad memory.

We stayed there for week last August, and LOVED it!!! I just contacted our travel agent to price out a return trip for summer 2014.

When my husband had a medical crisis, the Beach Club CMs were phenomenal!! They did everything within their power to help us out.

We stayed at BC last year. The only problem we had was we never had hot water the entire time. (at the hottest it was luke warm) We called multiple times, on the 3rd or 4th day someone called our room & showed up. He told us to run the sink for 5-10min on hot, then take a shower/bath to get hot water. That didn't work. We spoke to others around our room (bumped into them in hall way) & they had the same issue. It was never fixed. But we didn't let it bother us, we still had a great time. Our DD loved the pool.

Because reviews are so subjective it is really hard to work out the good v bad. On DIS you also have a lot of swooning about certain resorts and there is pressure to post more positive than negative, when other sites its the opposite. People's criteria for cleanlinees is also so subjective, some people like me dont notice things, but my wife is a hawk. So her review would be totally different to mine.

When i read the post on this thread about thin walls, that puts me off already. But I havent seen this mentioned before, now some people this isnt an issue so dont consider mentionining it.

For some people the pool seems more important than the rooms, so that's another thing to take into account.

For us it particularly hard as we dont know when we will return being from Austrlaia, so take a long time reading review after review before making a decision, and then make the best of it at the time.

We stayed in February on the BCV side and felt our studio was quite worn out. The rugs and bathroom were in desperate need of updating, however I didn't feel that anything was dirty, just worn. We were only there for one night of a split stay so we did nothing about it. We really did like the resort and would stay there again. Storm a long bay was really great as was the walk to Epcot.

BCV is a hit and miss proposition imho. We have owned there since 2002 and have had about 10 stays in 1 and 2 br villas. We have never had a filthy room but have had times where we did ask mousekeeping to clean the room again after our first night of our stay. During our last trip in November 2012 we had a dedicated 2 br. The closet doors had chunks of wood missing and the door to the 2nd bedroom had a missing hinge. Also the ac was not working in the 2nd bedroom. We have also had some lukewarm cm interactions. That being said we still love the location and SAB.

I like the Beach Club, even went there for part of my honeymoon., which was 21 years ago . We have stayed there a few more times since then. I still like it, but I have noticed that compared to the Yacht Club it is showing more wear and tear, especially in the lobby. Now, the Beach Club is a very busy resort with the Cape May Cafe for both breakfast and dinner, along with being a DVC resort, it gets a lot of traffic through the lobby. I think the rooms are on the same level as the rest of the WDW deluxe resorts. Regardless, it is still a beautiful resort!
