I love your trip report - thank you so much for sharing it with us. I am glad your daughter had such a great time at the BBB. My daughter is 9 and it has been the highlight of her trip the last few years.

Loving the added updates... I'm like you in that I take lots of pics of the kids when they're walking ahead of me. I don't know what it is but I feel like I'm capturing a more "real" moment. I took pics of them walking everywhere, even at the airport rolling their luggage! But I love those too!

Your misunderstanding moment with DD is so common with my DD's... it's awesome to read that you went on about your business and let her "work it out"... this is my course too... I've learned that my girls will work through it better in their own brains rather than me pushing an issue... geez, girls are somethin'...

Thank you for your kind words. It was tough for me this year. Last year I had a 9 year-old and a 2 year-old and this year I have a 10 year-old and a 3 year-old, so I got a double hit. I wasn’t going to try it. I don't have it in me. I think it would have been a lot of stress and even could have made life at home harder later. Like a lot of children my dd went through a phase where she struggled to tell the truth in certain situations. She’d immediately confess, but after going through that and explaining several times the wrong in lying and the harm it can cause, I can’t imagine what the result would have been had I tried to fudge on either of their ages.

She took a bit of pleasure in being considered an adult even though I told her all it meant was that Disney got to charge me more money.

It did change our trip though. Last year we had a 9 night trip with the dining plan and ate one TS meal per day with the exception of arrival day and departure day. We ate at Ohana, CRT, Akershus, Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, Hollywood and Vine, Chef Mickey and Tusker House.

This year I didn’t get the dining plan. At least she eats enough. You wouldn’t know it to look at her, but sometimes she will eat me under the table. I shared several meals with ds and we had several breakfasts in our room as well. I’m not sure what I will do for the next trip, but I know I want to go ahead and plan further out like I had previously.

What you posted is exactly it. No matter where we go, getting away from the every day routine that definitely has its struggles and having time to just be mom is vital.

Thank you for your kind words. Hooray for electronics! When we weren't chacking out the scenery, those Kindles were very helpful. And not just for videos and games. Our van's CD player went out some time ago and dd played music on hers for a good bit of the trip and we had fun singing. I went on a lot of road trips as a child and of course had none of those things, but back then we could do whatever we wanted in the back seat. I used to set it up like a bedroom and play house.

I'm enjoying posting the report. I learn a lot from trip reports so I was really motivated to share this trip.

Dd loves BBB. She didn't get to do it when she was little as we didn't get to Disney until she was 7 and could not do it that first trip. She's had to grow up quick in some ways so I'm glad to be able to give her something like that. I think I had just as much fun putting the outfit together as she had at the makeover.

With the photos, that’s me too. I love the “in the moment” pictures quite a bit more than the ones they pose for. There are times I want to take a picture of ds doing various things and he will stop and say “cheese” when he sees the camera. I remember when he was younger, it took me four tries to get a photo of him brushing his teeth because he kept stopping to pose for me.

I learned the hard way not to address it right away. If she feels she had hurt my feelings, she takes it very hard. Had I said what I was thinking, she probably would have zoomed into total meltdown. I’m sure we were both thinking “Who are you?!?!?”

Never a dull day raising a princess.

I have a 10 year old and 3 year old as well, so I am loving reading a report about kids the same ages.

(We're going to be looking into speech therapy for my 3 year old this summer as well. So I totally understand how great it is to find something they want to actually try to talk about. )

What a great experience at BBB. So nice that your daughter was so in to it. Even your son seemed into it.

How nice that she received so many compliments on her outfit throughout the day too.

Like a lot of others, I really love the "in the moment" pictures the best. Those are the ones you will probably cherish the most.

Loving your trip report. I can't wait to read the rest.

Your children are adorable. I loved the BBB outfit for your daughter. It was very age appropriate princessy.

His school had a speech pathologist come to evaluate the children last year and he basically didn't talk to her. He is one of those children at least he was that was really quiet at school and a chatter box at home. But his speech had certain issues I read could work themselves out, so I held off. He is a bit behind socially, but ahead academically. So his teacher and I have been working extra with him on certain things and he is progressing. If you can get him to talk, you'd be amazed at what he knows. They are coming back this week and I'm praying he talks to her. I'll see what the report says when it comes back. I wish you the best with your little one.

My middle daughter was diagnosed with Selective Mutism in Kindergarten. Basically she would not speak to anyone at school at all. Selective Mutism is a social anxiety disorder. She began talking some at school halfway through first grade. She is going into fifth grade next year. She is still shy/reserved but does speak when spoken to! I hope he talks o the therapist.

I was so surprised when I saw that picture because they took one almost identical to it last year. More than likely in a couple of years when she ages out of it, we'll try Pirate's League with both of them.

Vacations are good for those in the moment pictures. Right now we are doing field trips on the weekends and I've gotten some cute shots of them. One day I hope to get a better camera.
