Thanks! I wonder if it would still fit if it was in a lanyard? Maybe depends on the lanyard?

Am I right in thinking that The Plaza Inn does not take dinner reservations? We were planning on going on a Friday around 5 or 6pm. Will it be a madhouse?

Correct, no reservations.
Length of the line seems rather random, but there is often a big rush just after a parade.

Thanks for the confirmation. This will be our first there and I'm told we have to try the chicken!

Even when there's a line I've found it to move fast. We've done plenty of Friday dinners there. Only downside I've found is sometimes the inside being full and having to sit outside. Weather is supposed to decent by then, so I wouldn't worry too much. You will looooove the chicken dinner!

Hey Jerry! I thought I would pop over and read your planning thread. I am totally with you about rope drop . . . I get so excited that I wake up early too and just need to go and be in the parks. I'd rather be there early with less crowds and head back to the room for a break when it gets really hot than sleep in and miss the first few hours. Then I feel like I have to stay all day or I'll be missing out. How exciting to be taking the train. I would love that although I don't mind flying at all. It sure beats an 11 hour drive which is how long it takes us.

Are you still planning on doing solid weeks at each park or have you figured out the park hopping with the ap's? Part of what I like about the Disneyland Resort is the flexibility of going to either park whenever you want.

Have you recently checked the AP benefits? I used your link and it says Deluxe AP's still get a 10% discount.

You guys must love Cheesecake Factory. We are going to try the Fire N Ice restaurant at the Gardenwalk if we can get to it. I hope so.

My husband is english so if you see a couple with one of them talking with an accent and one not it is probably us! Maybe we will be at the ART stop or breakfast room at the same time.

Bummed that Plaza Inn will be closed and we won't get to try the chicken

Still, will have the chicken at Carnation Cafe.

Yes! I mean Rope Drop is where it's at! To walk on most rides several times at least is just brilliant!

The train is just a great and civilized way to travel. It can take 2 or 3 days to drive from Wa to L.A. which is not bad, but after trying the train it would be hard to go any other way. I hate to fly and now refuse to.

The park hopping doesn't interest me. We're doing 6 days in DL and 4 in DCA. Actually, there are 2 free days that we'll end up in the parks for a bit. Maybe we'll hop on those days?

For sure in tune with the AP discounts. Every dining reservation I've made takes advantage of that. I also have a Disney Visa that will earn points.

My friend that will be joining us, she is actually the one who introduced us to Cheesecake Factory. My Mom now loves it there so we have to go multiple times. I think the food is great (for a chain) and the variety is killer.

I'll keep an ear out! Probably see you on the bus for Rope Drop! Might hit up the breakfast room for coffee, but will normally grab something at The Market House or Jolly Holiday.

There must be nicer people on your train ride. I have gone by train too, from Nor Cal to Anaheim, and let me tell you, as much as I love trains and being a passenger on one, both trips of mine did not go without an issue. A minor one with an annoying passenger. And the next trip down was just really quite horrid, thanks to a punk with a bad attitude and mouth to match. He ended up harassing me.
I figured once the dust settled, everyone would go back to their own corner. Well, not so. This guy just was a real jerk. To make matters worse, he was with, I am presuming, his g/f or wife? and two young children. What a great example Mr wonderful is setting for them. The best he saved for the end of the trip, once his family left the upstairs. Anyway, it entails his sticking his fat, ugly cow like tongue at me, and once doing so, I figured ok, now he will go too (I needed to leave too, otherwise I would have ended up going to S.D.) anyway, I needed to get my suitcase, which meant walking to the end of this car, where the punk was standing on top of the stairs, so again I thought he will leave now, nope...as I go to retrieve my property, the sweetheart calls me a lovely name. I had to continue to ignore him, otherwise I would not have made it to my hotel, because I would have ended up probably in the Anaheim Police Dept instead, because I would have just punched his putrid little minded lights out! And it did not end there! Which by the way, for all of my tiny tales that I like to tell, I could only wish this was fiction. So now I am on the platform, looking to see if the coast is clear, good looks good. Then after I walked down to where you get a taxi, low and behold, who do you think comes outside from the Amtrak office? So he's talking to his driver, while I am talking to mine. And right as I close my cab door, the little puke face says bye ugly. I told my cabbie this tale, then said welcome to Anaheim to him. Lol
My story really did not surprise him too much.
I love traveling alone.
Anyway, since that trip, I have traveled via Southwest Airlines. I luv that co. No one bugging me, calling me names. No altercations with anyone at all! And it's wonderful to be in So Cal in about 1 hour and 25 minutes. Will I ever travel by rail again? Probably not.

Wow - that's horrible! I've never experienced anything like that. We have at least two things in our favor. First, we have a private room/bathroom. Also, our trip starts in the NW with lots of friendly folks
