So is MK a must-do for you on day 1? Worth the shorter park hours?

Our last trip we actually hit Epcot first- but it really "felt" like Disney that second day when the castle came into view!
Yes, we 'always' start with MK - just seems to set the stage for us!

We always get hoppers or AP's, so we wing it after that and don't plan on any certain place or time.

We always stop at MK our first day there, we plan most of our trip for MK but the first day is a must. I don't feel like I'm really there until I see that castle, lol. Perhaps I'll feel differently several years from now but for now, MK first day is a must.

We always do MK first and last days. One time we started at Epcot and it just didn't feel right.

MK is definitely not a MUST on the first day. It fits in whenever it works best. Our trips our started within dinner at Chef Mickeys, even if we get in earlier and hit another park prior.

We used to make MK our first park until our last trip when we started with Epcot. It fit the schedule better and I rolled with it. It seemed a tad odd at first because like many have said MK sets the tone of Disney and makes it feel magical right off, but as my kids are growing older and now my oldest DD's favorite parks are Epcot and AK, it doesn't seem to matter as much.

We have always done MK as the first park. We usually stay ay the Poly so it is the easiest park to get to so it just makes sense. We typically go in off peak times so the crowds aren't too bad. This next trip we will hit MK first and last day again.

I always go to Epcot on my arrival day; I like afternoons/evenings there and I want something good to eat!

As far as my first morning, I do tend to check out the crowd calendars when I plan which-day-where. This year, MK was my first morning; last year it was DHS. I feel like I'm "at Disney!" as soon as I get off the ME bus and walk into my resort, so I don't have a hard and fast rule about which park first or last.

MK is always our first and last day in the parks. We do use the crowd calendars but we never change those two days. What we will do is change our expectations. If the crowds are estimated 7-8, then we know the wait times involved, that we need to get there for rope drop ect. If it's a 2-3 crowd level, we plan accordingly.

I love to see MK at rope drop, sun shining, sidewalks freshly hosed down, morning excitement! It is never our first park because we arrive in the afternoon - I don't like arriving at that time, feeling like I'm late to the party. it ok to hop over later in the trip, but that first time has to be rope drop.

I pay attention to what the calendars say but I swear if I followed them too strictly I'd never visit MK or Epcot.

Yes, we always do MK on our first day---even when we arrive in the afternoon with a high crowd expectancy. I cannot imagine not seeing the castle until day two!!

Depending on what you mean by first park day....do you mean arrival day and going to a park or the first full day? Arrival days it differs each time, we have gone a couple of times to MK right after we check into our resort (we are usually checked in and ready to go by noon) but this year we are heading straight over to Epcot to go to F&W fest. As for first full day, we normally make this our Epcot day (have breakfast before the park opens with the princesses), but this year we will be heading over to MK instead while still having breakfast before the park opens with the princesses .

No, we usually arrive around noon and check in to CBR. Then in the evening we head to Epcot for a good meal and fireworks. But Magic Kingdom is always our first full day and our last full day!
