Inspired by "Last thing you do when you leave", does anyone remember the hand stamps?

When you left a park, they'd stamp your hand for free entry to another park that day? Then at the next park, the CM would run a black light over it so your stamp would show up. And what was cool was that on certain dark rides, you could see the stamp. And if you'd been there a week and done lots of hand stamping, your hand may look a little weird with all the stamps (depending on how much swimming, hand washing you'd done. Because for all those years, the very last thing I did was be sure to get my hand stamped as I left the last park for the last time. That way, if our flight got cancelled at the airport, we could make a beeline back to WDW and the parks. But in all those years (when did that stop, about 10-12 years ago?), our flight was never cancelled.

Absolutely! And I also remember the first year when we didn't need to get a hand stamp as we left the park and the CM at the gate assured us it would be okay. We were so confused after all the years of getting stamps!

LOL, now that you mention it, that's what happened to us. Fortunately, even after they discontinued the practice, they did have a few stamps available to stamp the hands of people like me who didn't trust the system.

DLR still does hand stamps. I didn't realize WDW didn't do this. As an AP holder I don't need one but I always get one anyway "just in case".

Didn't they smell kind of like lemons? Or was my brain super broken?

As kids we were fascinated by the black light ink. We'd get into the park, then run over to the return turnstiles, where we would beg for stamp after stamp after stamp. Sometimes the cast member would indulge us and we'd paint stripes on our faces with the invisible ink. Then it was off to haunted mansion to see our handiwork. One of my favorite Disney memories!

Sure do! Didn't the hand stamp go along with the gigantic ticket we wore on a string?

I just had my hand stamped at DL last week. It was cool to see it light up on the ride. Universal Hollywood also did a wrist stamp.

I thought the stamp was just for re-admission to the same park if you didn't have park hoppers?

I know they were good for readmission to other parks. I wonder-were all tickets park hoppers back then? Was the one park per day concept something that came up only in the last 10-15 years? On our first few trips, I don't remember choosing between one park per day tickets or park hoppers? I just remember choosing the number of days.

What about the older multi-day tickets. Didn't they used to be long, with some blanks at the bottom, and as you entered a park, they stamped one of the blanks with the date? These go hand in hand with the stamps for me
