Anyone planned this far ahead before??

Planning to book flights for first week in October 2014!!! and doing it soon on reward points. Am I crazy to do it this far in advance?? I know direct flights to orlando are popular and dont want to miss out on them by waiting like we did this year

I am just worried I might pick a week where there is no discount available. what would I do then?? I always thought room only would save us more but with the fall room only being only 20 percent I think free dining will be better.

can someone reassure me that they have booked this far ahead before??

We're booked for November 2014 -- which is nowhere near as far out as lots of folks out there-- don't sweat it.

We just booked the time we wanted and don't worry about discounts, if they happen, great. If not, bummer, but we'll live (we just spend less on other things). And we booked our flights early and there were no direct flights so we have a layover...now only a few months out there ARE direct flights available and at better times, but we can't get our money back I sort of wish I hadn't seen them. We'll live, I guess.

From the UK that's normal to have a trip booked more then a year in advance.

What airline lets you book flights that far in advance? Most have a max 11 mo window.

Being so far away (distance wise) we need to plan far in advance to get the budget right, we need to save for massive airfares + accom + cruise (it's a must) so yep, we're planning that far in advance

Never too early. But I do agree with the PP who suggests waiting until rates on July 10. I will book our flight for August 2014, last week, the day it opens with the airline on September 30. Good luck!

I normally book airfare for our August trips somewhere between Christmas and New Years, and I'm always happy with the fare I get.

So, while I'm busy planning next summer's trip, I won't do airfare for a few months yet. I will, however, book our room as soon as I can, which is apparently July 10

And getting a phenemonal airfare will balance all but an amazing room discount.

The only problem with booking airfare too far out is the chance that flight times will change in the interim.

Sept 14

We're starting to look for Sept 14, and I know people looking at holidays '14 and even Spring Break '15!

The only bummer I have with planning a year out is that it is, in fact, a year out!

Thanks everyone....we are redeeming our points for our flights and can do that one year out....I am a little worried about locking in our dates thought and not being able to change them if there is no discount at that time?!

Am debating between september and october 2014!!

We started planning....

for our trip this august back in January of 2012...

We booked our hotel in July 2012 and flights in September 2012 (we used FF miles for all 4 tickets)

We needed this time to plan and save for an almost 3 week trip to the world this time. (ok, it was more for the saving part rather than the planning part)

But the good thing is once we decided we were going, the first thing we did is purchase our tickets. We saved so much with all the price increases that it saved us a ton to buy them that far in advance. We knew where we wanted to stay, so it was making reservations at the AKL as soon as we were able. Then things like rental car, ADR's etc just sort of fell into place.

I've lost track of how many trips I've taken to WDW in my lifetime, and the planning seems to get easier each time I do it. But the waiting for the actual trip to get here doesn't. No matter if I've been 5 or 500 times, that is the most difficult of all.

On July 10th I will book our October 2014 trip. We went this past December for 2 weeks of Christmas through New Years so this will be the longest stretch between trips we have ever had. I just about can't stand it, thank goodness for the DIS Now off to watch and wait
