Pirate Parties - Magic vs. Dream

We cruised out of NYC on the Magic in September up to Canada. We attended the Pirate Party and loved it along with the fireworks (4 adults).

There will be 12 of us sailing on the Dream in November out of PC.

I have heard the Piarate Parties on the different ships are different. Can anyone please explain the differences. There are only 4 of us that have cruised Disney before - and we loved the party - and I wanted to find out how different the parties are.

Thanks,
Linda

As you know after the last dinner seating, the Pirate party on the classic ships is a show based around the pirates taking over the ship and Mickey swooping in (literally) to save the day followed by fireworks.

On the Dream class ships there is a Pirate party between the dinner seatings that is more "kid friendly" using the Disney characters. After the second seating the Pirate party is themed more around Jack Sparrow and the not-so-friendly type pirates followed by the fireworks.

Wow, thanks for your quick reply. I was trying to check out some old Navigators and I was confused with the different timing of the parties.

They also changed our days around. It was Nassau, CC, day at sea - I checked the website a few weeks ago and it is now day at sea, Nassau and CC. Not sure how that will impact our days. Not cruising until November but I am just trying to keep everyone in our group informed - especially if they want to make spa reservations or reservations at Nassau.

It almost sounds like the party between dinner sittings will be when we are supposed to see our show. No problem, we are all adults and would love to see the last show with Captain Jack and the pirates .

Usually on Pirate night (unless you're talking about the 3 night cruise), there's no show in the WDT.

Although I really loved Mickey swooping in - does he do that on either show on the dream?

No. The Aquaduck and length of space in the pools area makes it difficult to do.

The pool area on the Dream has both Mickey & Goofy pools together, so much longer in space.

the fireworks are a bit more elaborate on the Dream. They are more like you are experiencing a cannon battle at first between two pirate ships. They use the lights of the AquaDuck to enhance the experience too. In general, just a lot more pyrotechnics on the Dream than I thought we get on the Magic, but the Magic show is a lot more fun and less just dancing. I can't pick which one I liked more because they were pretty different and both still have that awesome feel of a great fun pirate themed night that other cruise line ships don't have.

Thanks for all the great replies. I am going to start searching for costumes as soon as all the Halloween stuff arrives in the stores.

If you can wait until the day after Halloween. I got our pirate costumes 80% off at Spirit.

We are taking 3 night cruise with main seating at dinner. Is there a show on Pirate night on a 3 night cruise? We would like to see both parts of the Pirate party and we do not want to miss the show, either. How does that work on a 3 night cruise?

On the three night cruise the three regular shows will be presented.

If you have main seating (I think that's 5:45?), the first show (Villains Tonight) in the WDT is at 6:15. The first Pirate party is at 7:30 (games) and 7:45 (show). Then Villains Tonight again at 8:30. With the second pirate show at 10:30.

It's do-able, dinner 5:45-7:15ish. Pirate games & show 7:30-8:15. Villains Tonight 8:30-9:30. Second pirate show 10:30-11:30.

Have fun.
