Not doing anything tonight, though. I've been at the airport since 4:00, but luck was not on my side today. My flight out of LaGuardia got delayed until 11:30 (?!?!?!), so I rebooked for the morning. Waited forever to get my bag for the night, then waited forever for the hotel shuttle - on my way there now.

Exhausted - absolutely cannot wait to get to sleep tonight.
Gah...the NYC airports and flight delays. I think I've gotten out of NYC on time once. Maybe.

I hope you got home and are rested up now.

So....the park I used to train at for the Princess was in the news. They arrested a guy for possessing two guns and heroin on the playground.

Hey all! I've been thinking of everyone on this thread but have had a whirlwind a week so I haven't been able to check in.

How is everyone doing?! On my end, I've had a struggle. A dear family member fell quite ill and I found myself grief stricken and unable to get out and run. Then, my daughter came down with a terrible cold (as did everyone else in our family).

My last run was over a week ago (when I hit my first 5k distance). I promised myself to get out there tomorrow though.

Today we celebrated my daughter's upcoming 5th birthday with a pool party at my house. My sister-in-law was released this morning from the hospital and surprised us with a brief visit at the party. Talk about crying tears of joy! We almost re-scheduled the party because without her, it's just not the same. But we had to carry on due to work schedules with the intent to have a small gathering at her house when she's strong enough. It all worked out beautifully in the end!

So tomorrow I'm hopping back on the wagon. I hope you are all well!

Hey! I hope your family member (sister-in-law?) is on the mend, and your daughter, too.

Good luck getting back on the wagon tomorrow - I'll be right there with you! It's been a major struggle the last week or two with work challenges and pulled muscles. I managed a good 30 minute walk/run about a week and a half ago, but then last weekend's 2.75 mi was really tough. This last week I've been battling pulled muscles again on top of a crazy work schedule, so nothing Monday or Tuesday, then walked Wednesday, crosstrained Thursday, then only a 25 min walk Friday. Nothing today, but run/walk tomorrow - attempting 3 miles at 30/30, but we'll see. Listening to my body and will slow my pace as necessary. My official half training doesn't kick off until the first week of October, so I've still got time. But I really would love a couple of good 3 mi run/walks before I start.

Let us know how it goes tomorrow!

Hey Laura! So happy to hear from you. I am sorry you've had to deal with pulled muscles but kudos to you for forging ahead. I'm sending positive, healing thoughts your way!

My sister-in-law has a lot of healing in the days ahead. She just turned 40 and has been battling lupus and kidney failure from the age of 16. She had a successful kidney transplant 11 years ago but unfortunately, she now needs a new kidney (as of summer last year). This hospitalization was due to many things - complications from side effects of dialysis, fluid in the lungs, infection, and anemia. We are overjoyed to know she is home and on the mend. She is truly an inspiring woman. She went from being unable to come home last night to surprising us today at Madison's party. She is still quite fragile so she didn't stay long but wow, was that the best gift my daughter could have ever received. When Madison found out her Titi woudn't be at her party, she said,"Well then I don't want a party." Their bond is special and I'm so thankful for how wonderful this day has been.

When you crosstrain, what do you find is most effective for you? Will you be following the Galloway training plan that's available on the RunDisney site?

PS - Thank you for the well wishes.

Just checking in. Nothing to report.
I took some time off from running to focus on shedding a few pounds, which worked out nicely. We head to WDW in 19 days for a quick adult only trip with friends.
Then as soon as I get back, I start my official training. I hope it goes well!! I'm really well rested and am actually eager to get back into running. It started to feel like a chore there for a bit, and I didn't want it to hamper my desire to do the race.

I hope everyone else is doing well!!!

Congrats on your weight loss and on getting that "edge" back. Sometimes a down week is a good thing.Gives the body--and the mind--time to rest.

And have fun on your trip!

It's not been a stellar running week for me, I only got out once do to a crazy schedule. I may get a run in today, but am not worried about it now. My "usual daily" runs are about 4 miles so the training plan will have to catch up with me once it starts. I don't have anything on my schedule until GSC except an electric run the first weekend in Oct. and since it's a 5K and a fun run I'm not worried about the time for that.

Have a great week Princesses

I ran today. It was the first time in a month.
It felt soooooo good!!!!!

My walk pace was a 3.5 and my run pace was a 5.5. I ran 2.5 miles in 36 minutes including warm up and cool down. It went really fast, I couldn't believe it was over before I felt like I began.
I think I could have gone faster but since it's been a while since I'd run, I wanted to take it easy. I also got new shoes, omg, clouds. They are like clouds on my feet.

Tomorrow I'm going to attempt 30 day shred. I need to do some serious toning! LOL

Congrats on your weight loss! I'm glad you took the time off to save your desire. That was wise.

I, too, have taken some time off from running. I haven't run 3x a week in about a month -- I think during the entire month of September I have (maybe) 5 runs under my belt. It's been busy with my SIL being sick, my daughter's birthday, and then my daughter was quite sick this week. But, I won't hang on to my lack of running this month...instead, we begin officially training this coming week and I'm ready and excited!

Hope everyone else is doing well too.

Have fun at WDW!

Awesome run! I missed this update before my last reply... SO funny you mention Shredding. I have been staring at my DVD, wondering if it'll do me some good in addition to my training. Please tell me how you like it. I started the program a few years back but fell off quickly due to not being ready to commit.

Shredding is ok. I get bored easily so it's tough for me to stay focused but with the rapid weight loss, I'm getting really flabby in the belly. I need to stick with shred so I can get some toning done.

October 1 we start shredding! We can do this if we stick together.
My run schedule for now is M-W-F
My shred days will be T-Th-Sa

What days are your runs scheduled for?

You took a good break from running, I did too. I ran 1 time in Sept.
Now I feel like I'm ready for official training to begin. I'm actually getting really excited for the race. I can't wait!

I'm ready and willing to join you in Shredding! Your weight loss is motivating to me. I have lost 33 pounds to date but my loss has slowed greatly within the last two weeks due to stress and not eating on plan each day.

I'm happy to be back and 100% ready to get this ball rolling.

Unfortunately, I work an odd schedule -- 3 12-hour shifts (and alternating weekends) at the hospital with no rhyme or reason to it other than never working three shifts in a row. I did sit down with pen and paper and try to configure a sound schedule to go hand in hand with the training program but it's hit or miss some weeks.

For the next three weeks, I will run the following days:

Monday, 9/30 -- Wednesday, 10/3 -- Friday, 10/5

Monday, 10/7 -- Wednesday, 10/9 -- Saturday, 10/12

Tuesday, 10/15 -- Wednesday, 10/16 -- Friday, 10/18

I will Shred in the morning before work between running days. I'm starting to think I'm borderline nuts but I need to do this.

Oh yes, and somewhere in all of that, I'll also be studying my butt off for my entrance exam to nursing school on 10/21.

I've got this though! Day 1 of Shredding: 10/1...let's stick together.

Newbie runner (or should I say runner wanna be). I am 43 years old and needed some SERIOUS motivation to get in shape, so I signed up for the Glass Slipper Challenge. Between the cost of the entry fee and plane tickets, there is NO backing out now

I started running/walking 3 months ago. I still can't run more than a half mile continuously, but I am training with walk/run intervals of 4-5 miles 3-5 times per week. I have put over 200 miles on my sneakers since mid-June.

I entered a local 10K yesterday to submit a time to Run Disney. I finished 2nd to LAST!!! Guess it beats never starting. My time was 1:15 with a 12 min/mile average. I was satisfied with my time until I saw my name near the very bottom of the list. How do these people run so far so fast?!?!? The top female runner finished in 40 minutes! It is discouraging. Guess I just have to keep on going and hit the pavement tomorrow. I've got a lot of training to do.

Best wishes to all of my fellow princesses in training!
