He grew on me and I did enjoy him as "The Doctor".

I did not watch all of the episodes with him however I have been watching the marathon all day long....It is so nice to kick back, eat, watch TV and do NOTHING.

I am on break though. I have to actually do a mound of dishes in my kitchen and then back to the marathon.

I have not googled or spoiled who the new doctor is yet so I am saving it as a surprise for myself.

I'm dreading it, tears will be shed just like when Tennant became Smith.

Looking forward to Capaldi. I have had enough of Smith and River. Ready for a new companion too.

I thought the story fell short tonight. It didn't have the emotional pull as 9 or 10. I enjoyed Matt Smith though. He deserved better companions.

Matt started to grow on me as well. Although David is still my favorite with Peter Davison being my second fave.

DH and I watched it last night and thought the episode was great. I almost had tears in my eyes during Matt's regeneration. Although I was very startled to see Peter Capaldi "pop" up as the 13th so quickly. I'm used to seeing a drawn out regeneration where you see the merge as in the past. This one was different.

One question did come to mind though. According to "The Day of the Doctor", Galifrey is frozen in a single moment in time in another universe. If that's the case, how did the Time Lords manage to break that moment and create the "crack" .

On another note, I'm glad that Moffatt cleared up the 12 regenerations cycle. I'm also very happy that we will finally get a proper season with 12-13 episodes instead of the 8 episodes we have been getting with a "long break" in between before the Christmas episode. That's been driving me nuts!

Same here. I was just starting to tear up, waiting for another emotional "I don't want to go" moment, but bam - there he was.

Now if I could just get myself to stop quoting the "Now it's time for one last bow..." poem...

One other thought: Did anyone else think he (Smith) was kind of made up to look like William Hartnell? Especially the hair?

I was surprised to see the new doctor pop up so quickly. Looking back the regeneration started on the rooftop so it wasn't that quickly. Since the new doctor is older, I wonder if he will use the "timey mimey..." line. It would be odd coming from someone older.

I don't like Clara as a companion. I did like the explanation (from previous episodes) of how there were so many versions of her. It was nice to see Amy Pond one last time.

I didn't like the way Clara whispered to the crack about how good the doctor was and Galifrey sent him another life. I would think the Time Lords were kind of ticked at him for what he did. To me, it would have made more sense for Clara to appeal to the Time Lords that if The Doctor died, he wouldn't be there in the future to help undo the time lock.

I wonder how they will get around no more lives when the new doctor leaves in a couple of years.

DD20 is a big Dr Who fan. Last year for Christmas DH made her a 6 ft Tardis bookcase. This year was a very Dr Who Christmas for her. She got a Tardis cling for her door, a book on Who's Who in the Dr Who Universe, Dr Who post its, magnet, bookmark, socks and slippers. Best of all my nieces knitted her a Dalek cap and a Tardis bag. I told her with the cap and bag she will be a sci fi geek's dream date when she gets back to campus.

from what I've read on other sites this will be a WHOLE new doctor. This is his first face. He shouldn't have any memories of the other doctors at all. Matt used the last of the 13 regens.

I was also a little sad about River not being there until I read on other sites that she actually WAS (probably) there but had a new face..

This would make me madder than anything moffatt has done so far. How can he disconnect this Doctor from 50 years of previous Dr Who history. It would be ridiculous and totally unfair to everyone who has been associated with the show previously. Dr. who really needs a new show runner.
