Cruise questions from newbie..

Hi all!!

We have recently returned from our first WDW holiday, and to get over the post holiday blues we are already dreaming of our next holiday.

We picked up a cruise line leaflet whilst on holiday and all the family are agreed that the Disney cruise line looks fabulous! We have also checked out the website.

We assume that the Med cruise would be the cheapest option for us as we are based in the UK, and would like to do at least 7 days. As we are new to cruising, my questions are:

- Do Disney ever offer any discounts on the price quoted throughout the year?
- What is included in the price? Do you have to buy additional food and drink or pay for any of the entertainment?
- Are the cheapest rooms terrible, or ok?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!! xxx

Welcome!

Typically Disney prices do nothing but go up until the last minute. They are cheapest when the itineraries are first announced, and as categories book the prices go up. If after the "pay in full" dates the ships are not completely full they will offer some restricted discounted rates. If you are flexible there are discounts to be had... but there is no guarantee.

As far as what is included, the answer is *almost* everything. There is one upcharge restaurant on the Magic (she's the one that sails in the Med) called Palo which a reservations based/adults only and has a $20 cover charge.

Other things that are not included in your quote: canned sodas or bagged candy from the theater areas or room service. Alcohol. Excursions. Gratuities ($12 per cruise passenger per day covers your stateroom host and your dining team).

Disney's rooms are some of the largest on average of the major cruise lines. I wouldn't call any of them rubbish.

I'm sure others will chime in but there are some quick answers.

- Do Disney ever offer any discounts on the price quoted throughout the year? If a cruise isn't selling well, they'll sometimes offer a last-minute discount. Otherwise, the prices tend to rise instead of all.
- What is included in the price? Do you have to buy additional food and drink or pay for any of the entertainment? Entertainment is included. Alcoholic drinks are extra. Tips for stateroom host and dining wait staff is extra, $12. per person per day.
- Are the cheapest rooms terrible, or ok? That's subjective. Some people don't mind the inside (windowless) staterooms. Others get claustrophobic.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!! xxx
Have a great cruise!

As we are new to cruising, my questions are:

- Do Disney ever offer any discounts on the price quoted throughout the year?Yes if the cruise is not selling well and it is getting close to the date of the cruise.
- What is included in the price? Do you have to buy additional food and drink or pay for any of the entertainment? the cost of most food is included in the cruise fare (breakfast, lunch, dinner). If you want to eat at Palo/Remy you have to pay an upcharge. Also, liquor and coffee is extra when ordered outside of meal time. If you get food or drinks before going to the shows in the theatres, you will be charged for those as well. there is a free drink dispenser on the deck by the pool where you can get free soda throughout the day.
- Are the cheapest rooms terrible, or ok? The inside staterooms are smaller and have no outside view. I guess it all depends on how close you all want to be! We have opted for larger rooms since our first cruise in the inside stateroom category.

Pricing is available on DCL's website! Just go to http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cr...re-excursions/ and select the port you're interested in on the right-hand side, and click Go. You should see a list of DCL excursions - just click on one that looks interesting, and the pricing (probably in USD) will be included on the details page!

That varies wildly! A Med cruise is not inexpensive with excursions but the itinerary you choose as well as your taste will have a big impact on that.

You are also welcome to go explore on your own using public transport or booking excursions outside of the ship's offerings but you are responsible for getting back to the ship in time to sail away.

If you go here there is a drop-down box that you can select the ports and they will give you a list of what is available.

You could spend 10 pounds in each port just taking a cab or subway or ferry to a location or you could choose an excursion that takes you to the Sistine Chapel after hours for 155 pounds per person.
