One thing I hate about Universal!

Because the resorts are run by Loews and operate as individual properties, if you find a better deal at one of the other onsite resorts, you have to cancel your original reservation, wait for refund, and make a brand new reservation. We have ressies at Hard Rock for next month for 6 nights, but no AP discounts have come out. AP discount just became available for Royal Pacific that would save us about $600. We love the RP but have stayed there 5 years in a row, so we decided to try something different. But for that price, the change would be worth it. Just hate the whole process. So much easier at Disney.

Weird - AP rates have been available for months at PBH, and now at RP, but none have been available at HRH.

that is aggravating.
hope it doesn't ruin your trip.

since hrh has the least amount of rooms, maybe it didn't need any discount rates to fill those rooms during your dates?

i don't switch hotels but do book at rack rate and later modify to a code rate.
so i don't have any experience in what you are going through.

i'm so satisfied at the onsite hotel i stay with, i keep booking it on each visit.
my priority is the hotel i stay at, not the price.
yea, if i get skunked on no ap rate, i usually modify/switch to the smsm rate.
it's happened to me before.

I feel for you, and agree that sometimes the HRH does not issue discounts due to full occupancy.

However, at Disney not every hotel has the same discount.

In the past we would be trying to get club level rooms at the Yacht Club, and there wouldn't be any available, but the Floridian or Polynesian club level rooms would be open. The next day I would call and they would release some yacht club rooms - just luck of the draw.

I just book my room thru the Loews site and modify my reservation as the rates changes and they just apply the deposit to that reservation.

i Have changed reservation hotels with them, and yes it would be simpler if they could just book the new resort and put the deposit on that new hotel booking account, but its no big deal, only that you need to pay another deposit while you wait on the refund from the first booking, although it has alway been only a few days till its back in my account, for the saving it would def be worth it

The last time we made changes by phone (about a month ago), they just adjusted the reservation and didn't cancel anything. We changed from the AP rate to the PIN CODE rate. We didn't change hotels though.

You can always ask if they can keep the deposit. They may transfer you to the accounting department. We've had it done like that before.

you can make adjustments with the booking code, but if you change hotels, it is like disney's way.

cancel the ressie and book a new one for the new hotel.

Just book the other hotel with a new deposit. You will get your deposit back within a few days, no biggie.
