Hi Rcers!

Time to catch up, say hello. It's that time of year, when I mention Magical Dining Month in Orlando! If you're going to be there anytime during Sept, it's something to consider. Here's the list of restaurants, menus: http://www.visitorlando.com/magicaldining/restaurants/
Il Mulino and Blue Zoo are on the list again this year! You make a reservation at any of the restaurants, and then just be sure to ask for the Magical Dining Menu if you're interested. They often don't offer it.
$33.00 for 3 courses, it's a deal!

Miss-Are you having a cloudy rainy summer, too? I am so ready for some sunshine.

Koh
-Fun to hear about your poly plans!

Minnie-I am saving your Poly tips, I hope we stay there sometime.

Kook-Three weeks? Time for a happy dance!

Heather-Aways love you photos, they are appreciated.

Jenny-I think I saw you post on the Cali Grill thread recently? I wanted to pass on that the Chefís twitter account has a post that indicated heís expecting to be open last week in Aug. If I hear anything else Iíll let you know, especially about reservations opening up.

Sjs314-I find pricing out trips both fun and sort of dangerous. Before I know it, Iím booked!

Pas-Itís always fun to follow your changes. Thanks a million for being our rc queen!

Janet-We put off our little trip this weekend, will go later in the summer. In the meantime, we're planning to try a new yummy restaurant nearby.

SueM-Glad physio is coming along. Hard work, that.

Alysa-Darling costume!

Marie-They are happy about the real world, and then they realize itís the real world at the same time. Always a big adjustment! Know you are so proud of him!

Wookie-Thinking of you!

Waving hi to friends Iíve missed, hope you all have a good Wednesday!

Those GoPros are awfully nifty. Be sure to share any and all hilarious moments with us.

Out hygenist is super cool though and recommended we get a consult with an ortho before getting any teeth pulled. So Friday we are seeing the ortho. DD9 is a wreck. Poor girl, why is it my most anxious one has the most teeth problems!! I wish we could take all these problems away for our kids with a wave of the wand!

DD7 wouldn't allow any x-rays and kept gagging and crying. I didn't expect that, she is usually my trooper. DD4 did fine with cleaning and x-rays and keeps telling them that.

I just keep trying to tell them we are lucky that we can get our teeth problems fixed, there are kids in other countries that cannot. And end up losing their teeth. Not sure how much of an impact that lecture is having though.
Poor girls. We had a horrible dentist when we first moved back here; Miss M was just 4 at the time and it really scared her. (Hygienist had zero social skills.) I felt so awful for taking her there. Thankfully the new place we go to is in a different universe care-wise. She went to school the next day after her first experience at the new place and drew a picture of "My Favorite Things to Do:" ... her in the chair at the dentist.

Ginny: I just refreshed to catch your post! That is such an EXCELLENT deal... you posted about that last year and we went to Bluezoo because of it. If only I could move hubbo's birthday back a month. Still doing Bluezoo, just without that fabulous deal ah well. I'm sending you our sun -- should be along shortly. (Unfortunately, it's coming with staggering humidity. Feels blech out.)

We might head along over your neck of the woods (well, your state anyway!) this weekend. Up toward either Holland or Grand Rapids for a brewery visit or two.

~~======================~~

I don't know what possessed me. I'm attempting to clean up the "play room" which so happens to be the dining room with no actual dining furniture in it other than a very old English antique sideboard from hubbo's family. Everything else in the room is varying shades of girl. Okay, back to cleaning... for real. Maybe. Unless I get distracted again... speaking of, have you guys read the refrigerator thread?

It was lovely. The previous year we were similar location but ground floor, but didn't enjoy it as much as the foliage almost was creeping in our patio doors! I was a bit scared of the creepy crawlies!
Gee, see how much catching up I still have to do! Thank you so much for posting this photo - this is one of the rooms I've hoped for one of these stays. Could you see the EWP from your balcony? I always feared that room would be staring directly at the side wall of Hawaii.

Of course, any pic of the Poly makes my heart sing...although with the new CR rooms I'd sure be tempted.

Well that view was looking to the right, Hawaii was directly in front, but I think I mentally blocked that out! I suppose we could've seen the EWP from there but we were always out on the beach!

Happy Hump day to everyone!

I am feeling a little sad..... DS21 (Josh) is finding the adjustment to night shift/ and
his new job quite difficult....I understand, he's not had any responsibility or pressing commitments since he graduated HS in June 2011. I've let him stay home, rent free, responsibility free and not pushed getting a job until recently. I've tried to be supportive, but of course to him I always come off as the mean one who just doesn't get it.... this morning at 6:45am, after his shift (2nd shift by the way) he came into my room and told me he wants to quit. Ummmm NO WAY! I said, and he gets all attitud'ish on me. Says I don't listen. He said he has another job lined up through his girlfriend's mom's brother who works for a company installing windows. That he'll make $18/hr doing that instead of $15 at Home Depot, and it'll be DAYTIME hours Mon to Friday....Well....that sounds all fine and dandy, except how will he get to this job, I say?? He has no car, which was the main reason for him working in the first place to get a car. He says "you said you'd take me to the dealer to look for a car" I tell him, that YES, when he has the money, we'll take him to look, but that's going to take time to acquire!! I'm not paying for a car when I'm worried myself about keeping up the bills while his Dad is off work with his injury.
So he stomps out of my room throwing "Forget It, I'm never talking to you again" in my face -- and that I never understand. He's ummmmm what age????? 21????? I don't know, it's times like these I just want to say, don't talk to me about it , talk to your dad!
My relationship with him is fragile enough to begin with, I don't want to rock the boat!!! I'm always the bad one in his eyes, the one who's not supportive..he has a good way of just turning everything around to make me look like the witch with a B
I've had it really, it makes me want to cry. 2 days into his job and he's already looking at quitting! That's crazy, it took so much effort to get him this job, to arrange his resume, help him prepare for the interview. I was so proud of him, now I'm embarrased to say my pride is slipping to dissapointment I don't want ot be disspointed in him, I want him to find his way!!!

So, I have left it in DH's hands, he has a better way of getting things across to Josh without looking like the A hole. Josh will listen to his dad more. I do want to support him, I just need him to learn commitment and to start taking some responsibility for his future, because it's draining me. He wants to be an electrician, but he has to realize, HE needs to go out, find the company to apprentice with, do some of the leg work, mom can't always be coming to his rescue...
And, he won't be making the 80 K per year he's hoping to to start, he'll start at the bottom with dirty work even as an electrician!!! every thing in life isn't easy, and some things take work.....I don't know if he'll get that, but I sure hope he grows up some and starts acting more his age

Blah....I just needed to talk to someone. Thanks for listening guys!

Marie

Oh Marie I understand your issues all too well. My DS21...well let's say life is calm since he moved out a few years ago. His problems are his GF's now unfortunately. Poor woman....she's much older and assumed the "maternal role" IMO. I haven't spoken to him in 2 years now I think. It broke my heart, but I moved on. You can't change him. But I would hold strong that he lives in YOUR house, and needs to follow YOUR rules. Otherwise, there's the door. I know that sounds harsh, but if you don't tell him he has to at least give this job a few months he will bounce from job to job, because nothing will be good enough. It's hard to stay strong, but you have us For him to verbally scold you because he can't manipulate you is uncalled for ! Will DH stand by your decision? This other job installing windows is not steady work, and I know plenty of electricians out of work around here. Time's are rough, the unemployment rate at the local union is near 80%!!! He needs to remember he is LUCKY to have a job. Okay I am SO sorry to rant. My DMIL got DS a job at Target which he ended up getting fired since he constantly called out...I was mad, how disrespectful! Josh needs to "Suck it up buttercup" He's had it good, heck he STILL has it good...rent free, no bills, no kids to feed, get up go to work come home....Ah to be young and have the wisdom we have now, right??? Hang in there, and stand your ground Mom...you are 100% right

Oh Marie: It is so hard for us moms, I totally understand everything you have said and agree 100% too. Sadly it is always our fault when things don't go right or they are not happy. FWIW my DD's totally favor Daddy too, I am always the mean, awful one.

Thanks Jeanette, DH thinks she is way too young still for this stuff. Just a headache, a few cavities and they manage to make you feel like a horrible parent too.

Thank you all again. I really think the fact that he did this to himself, has made it that much harder. My fil is really stuck in the "what if's". We found out that night, the fil's dad was looking for some woman and really wan't making any sense. The fil keeps saying "well what if he didn't do this to himself?"

DH wants to cash it to help buy flowers for his grandfather, but I don't want to. It's not like he's ever been close to this man. In fact for most of my DH's life this man was a mean drunk. I'm sure I'm just being selfish, but I would rather that money go on a down payment on a timeshare than on flowers for a man that I couldn't stand when he was living.

That is terrible. That really ahd to hurt your DH.

Or they could be like that girl on Breaking Amish where they pulled all of her teeth when she was like 12, and there was nothing wrong with her teeth at the time. They just thought it was easier than waiting until she had problems. I was the same way with gagging. I always did when they took x-rays.

Marie
I am so sorry you're having trouble with your DS. I agree, work can really suck. Unfortunately, when your a grown up somtimes you have to do what you think sucks. Great job sticking to your guns.

Well today has been another interesting day. The inlaws went to Home Depot, got a water heater. Getting the old one out was a big 'ol pain in the rear and we ended up flooding part of the garage. Once that was cleaned up, and we almost got the new one into place, the DH noticed a dent. We took it back got a new one, and it's installed now. My mil had us use her credit card, and I just signed her name. With an employee standing right behind me, he started to ask me why I was signing her name, but I stopped him mid-sentence and said, "yes I can write in cursive". Luckily he got the hint and went with it. I'm off to fix my DH before checking in online. I just snapped at him while typing this. He kept bugging me (like a 3 year old would) for the check from the timeshare company. I finally said that he couldn't have it "because I am not paying that much money for flowers for a man that was a mean, abusive drunk for most of his life and was so selfish to kill himself, leaving his family with that much more pain and confusion." I just made a grown man cry. I feel smaller than Tink.

DH keeps emailing me about May 2014 dates now, and wants a 10 day trip then! WTH??? I have kind of let him know that 1 week is what is in our budget. It is like he doesn't even hear me sometimes. I would love to do a 10 day, we will see.

Jeanette: So close to your trip! So happy for you guys!

SueM: Have a great time shopping! I am jealous!

Sheila: What are you going to do? Are you keeping the POly for November? Inquiring minds want to know!

Hope you are all having a great day!
jenny funny about my resort dilemma, I told Bob about the rumor of this year being the last one for OL and how they start the night we leave, he says so add a day He has no idea that it will cost 600+ between adding a night@ Poly and changing airfare I am thinking on it but don't seem worth it to me.

Now about the dentist when My youngest DS hit the braces age it was just becoming a racket that dentists were suggesting braces for every kid and Adult out there. I forget now what % off the bite is that braces are recommended 100% but you may want to look into it before you invest in braces. My Jason's bite was not off enough to warrent getting them. I honestly think since we take our kids to the dentist so young and so often and many people have Dental Ins (we dd not) that parents feel obligated to shell out money if braces are suggested.
Can you tell this is a sore point with me?

Now a funny story my oldest DS hated the dentist and floored me once when he told the Dentist as he was being lectured about brushing " Up your Nose With A Rubber Hose". I wanted to disappear into the woodwork but now it is one of my fondest memories

Those GoPros are awfully nifty. Be sure to share any and all hilarious moments with us.
Phew. So I'm not the only one who has to hear that. Single-digit daaaaancin'
Enjoy your retail therapy! TJs is always a doozy for me.

~~======================~~

Jeanette Ugh yes darn fridge something else to worry about as I need to keep my insulin refrigerated.

Marie I'm sorry your DS wants to quit already. He really needs to give it a chance. My DS Jason had a great job after school loading trucks was there for about a yer, it paid well for a PT job well his boss went on vacation and the person covering for his boss locked horns personalities conflicted and Jay quit. I wanted to kill him as it could have led to FT eventually.

Do you know the girlfriends
'S mother well enough to maybe get her on your side for him sticking it out? It seems like she is instrumental in his descison and I agree with Jeanette, installing windows can be seasonal sure thy need help now the weather is good.

Jen: I'm sure the whining will happen eventually with this venture, too. I'd send you some sun but we're on short supply here! Lots of blech humidity though.

Heather: I'm gigglin' over your DIY adventures... and the GoPro comment! What is this ToT picture?! You're going to have to go and dig that up.

Jeanette: Is it still POR? Or is there a new ticker (which I can't see because I've got 'em blocked on this PC)?! (Ooooh yeah, I think the candy they gave out last year was a nice improvement over the previous year... lots of Nestle. )

Alysa: Oh MY! You're one TALENTED momma... with an absolutely gorgeous kiddo! Well done on both accounts! How long did the dress take to make?

Sheila: What request did you make at Poly? Was it Tahiti? I can't recall with all the Tokelau talk.

Koh: Speaking of, did you put in your longhouse request?

I_Heart: I'm in that same "nothing new to report" boat.
Miss I requested 1st floor patio Fiji Luau Cove side but if they start the DVC construction I may end up changeing my request

Thanks for all that Sheila! We have pretty much decided we are just going to do the fillings and leave the rest for now. We will still keep the ortho consult appoint just to see what they say. The "Up your nose with a rubber hose" is priceless!!

Jenny- nothing beats a 10 day trip. Just got back- we hadn't done one in about 10 years - it was wonderful!! Relaxing, super great 😎

Justin - 15- gets his braces off next Tuesday. About 7 weeks later than expected , we had to cancel the original appt because he made the high school state tennis tournament and this was the next available😳

Ha! Did my Dh get to you?? I bet it was super relaxing....we have only done one of those and it was great. That was one of our trips at the Poly. I just hope my budget can handle it!

Okay, so at 15 he is just getting them off. So just turning 9 is a bit young for this. Thanks for that perspective.
