Smile Back to Back - same port - different ships

Reading about people doing back to back cruises on Dream for example, where you go on a 3 day, disembark for an hour or so, then go on a four day, makes me wonder. Is their any place on the schedule right now to take a 3 or 4 day cruise and follow it up with another 3 or 4 night cruise on another ship, but which departs from the same port?

Has this ever been the case? Wondering how to schedule our next cruise and this would give us the same as a 7 night cruise but we get to experience two different ships.

Yes, it can be done. But it's not really a B2B, as that would be on the same ship.

You would need to look and see what other cruiselines sail from the same port. Then find out if they have a ship departing the same day that your first cruise gets back there.

IMO, it's not worth the packing up just to unpack again in a couple of hours to look into it.

And, also my opinion, 3 & 4 day cruises are just too short. At least with a 3 & 4 day combo on the same ship it feels a little bit like a 7 night since you aren't leaving the ship.

With all of the ships porting in Port Canaveral in 2014, you could do a short DCL cruise, spend the night in a hotel at PC, then take another DCL cruise on a different ship. If I was going to switch ships, that would probably be the way I would do it - disembark, spend a day (or two) in Cocoa Beach, then hop on another ship for another cruise leg.

It is easier to just stay on the same ship, though - especially if you have the same room! Also, the second leg of a B2B you feel like royalty, because the staff already knows you while they're just getting to know everyone else. You wouldn't get those perks on a different ship.

Do you want to cruise on different lines or stay with DCL ships? Only one ship docks at PC each day, but there will be three ships cruising out of PC at one point next year. It would involve at least one night in a hotel in PC, but probably could be worked out but with different cruise lengths and ports.

I am considering the 2n cruise to nowhere on Magic 10/25 then B2B it with 10/27 5n western to Cozumel. How fun! I would actually get off the ship in Miami and hangout for at Bayside for a while. There is also a 5n Bahamas cruise prior to the 10/25 that's a CC double dip

We did this in 2011. We took a seven night Western Caribbean cruise on Magic, stayed at The Radisson at the Port in Port Canaveral for one night, and then headed out on Dream for a 4 night cruise. It was a bit of extra packing and unpacking, but it was a great vacation. We stayed at the Radisson the night before the first cruise and were able to see the launch of the Mars rover "Curiosity" from our window, and after both cruises we spent a few nights at Old Key West. Other than all the packing and unpacking, it was a great trip.
