Crafting My Way To An October F&W Extravaganza! Final Days Update 10/7

Hi everyone! jerseytinkerbell here, but you can call me Jeri. This is my first PTR, so hang in there while I get my bearings. I don't usually venture too far from the dining boards, but I am so excited about this trip and I would love to share that excitement with all of you!

Now, without further adieu, let me introduce you to the people involved in this upcoming trip.

There is me, Jeri, aka jerseytinkerbell. Lover of all things Disney. Disney trips pretty much consume all of my spare time and most waking thoughts.

This is me on my honeymoon. Rubbing it in my husband's face that I beat him at the Whac-A-Mole game. I'm such a gracious winner.

Also joining me this trip, as always, is my handsome hubby Rob. He had never been to WDW until he met me and after a year of convincing he finally joined me and my family for a trip and he was instantly hooked. He loves it almost as much as me now.

This is him on the carriage ride we took at FW to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary.

Let me fill you on the details of the trip so far. We will be in WDW from October 16-26, but I'm going to add days onto the beginning if possible. So far we have 3 nights at OKW, 2 nights at BLT, and 4 nights at BWV booked and a fifth night at BWV waitlisted through my mother's DVC points. The current plan is to spend a few days in Port St. Lucie beforehand visiting some friends in the area and scouting for our possible move next year. But, we might take that trip this summer, which would leave more days for WDW at the beginning of the trip. We shall see. I'll keep you posted.

This will be my 19th trip to WDW and hubby's 8th. It's hard to believe we will have been here 8 times together. We are pretty lucky. Our longest trip was back in 2009 when we had a glorious 2 week Disneymoon. It was the best! We keep trying to outdo that trip and have yet to succeed. This could be the trip that we do it. It's going to be pretty epic. Lots of food, lots of drinks and 3 different hotels. Can't wait!

We have become seasoned pros at touring the park and we have a very laid back approach to touring. We tend to get into the park somewhat early, leave mid-day and spend the nights relaxing at the hotel or DTD. It's pretty easy to get a lot done in a few hours when it's just the two of us. Due to hubby's new work schedule, we have both become morning people, so I think we will be making rope drop A LOT on this trip. However, we will probably be asleep by 8pm. After many times on the DDP we have come to dislike it a little bit, so we will be DDP free this trip. We don't have too many ADRs this trip, nor do we plan to make too many more. We plan on hitting up F&W a lot this trip, especially while we are staying at BWV. We are also hoping to get a few friends in on our F&W fun if they can make it. Stay tuned.

As for transportation this trip, we will be driving. We have driven down 6 of our 7 trips, so this trip will make drive number seven. We can usually make the drive from South Jersey in about 14-15 hours and it very much feels like 14-15 hours. The drive is one of those things I tend to romanticize when a trip is far away, but the closer it gets I tend to remember that it is torture. Hubby does not handle flying well and I do not handle him not handling it well. We did one plane ride into Orlando and that was it for me. Plus, I like to save money and so because we like to have a car down there with us and pack very heavily it is so much cheaper for us to drive rather than fly and rent a car. I-95 here we come!

Now for the crafting mentioned in the title. I am currently unemployed due to the fact that my family's business, which I had been running for the past 12 years and was opened by my parents 30 years ago, recently went out of business due to a series of unfortunate circumstances (structural damage to the building, loss of lease, etc.). Now, for the first time... ever, really, I am without a job to go to every day. I am used to working 50 hour weeks, so I need something to fill my time while searching for a new job. I have become obsessed with Pinterest and have been cooking and crafting up a storm these past few weeks. This is also feeding my WDW planning addiction.

So, to get me hyped for my trip, and to get all of you hyped for your own trips, whether they be real or simply hypothetical for the time being, I would love to share all my plans and crafts and Disney themed recipes with you for the next few months. Let's get this party started!

Oh, and feel free to follow me on Instagram @JERIBERRI23. Follow along with all of my crafting/cooking/general craziness both Disney and non-Disney alike!

Let's get right to it shall we! My first craft I decided to take on was found on Pinterest and seemed like it would be so fun and easy. And it was! I decided to make drink coasters out of old park maps. I happened to have a few stuck away from my Disneymoon in 2009. I had the personalized maps made for that trip and they have been sitting in a box for the past 4 years, so I figured, why not dig them out and use them for something I would actually...use. I even had some old coasters sitting around, so I only needed a few things from my local craft supply store. Cheap entertainment.

So cute right?!

If you are interested in trying it out for yourself you can find the link to the directions HERE

Crafting is off to a great start so far! A little piece of the park at home with me.

Thanks for joining in! I already had a WDW obsession but I am quickly developing a Pinterest obsession as well. Glad I'm not the only one!

Hi again! This week my Disney planning has been centered around our ADRs. Hubby and I pretty much decided to try a lot of new places this trip and stick to F&W, but we each decided on a Signature Restaurant we wanted and then picked a third restaurant together. Hubby's pick is Jiko, which is his favorite, but is always just a little off the mark for me. We will be dining there on 10/17, making the drive to AKL from OKW. My pick is Flying Fish, which we have never been to before and I am very excited about. We will be dining there on 10/23 during our stay at BWV. Our third co-pick is Artist Point. We loved it when we ate there on our first anniversary and are very much looking forward to it this time. We will be dining there on 10/20. Undecided if we will drive over from BLT or take the boat there from MK.

I am still trying to get into BOG on 10/19, or any night of our stay, but so far no luck. If worse comes to worse and I can't get an ADR we will just check it out for lunch one day.

We are going to go to Olivia's for breakfast every morning we are at OKW because their breakfast menu looks outstanding and I want to try everything. I would also love to make it to Beaches and Cream this trip, but we'll see if that happens. I also have a breakfast ADR for Crystal Palace. That is my favorite breakfast spot, but we haven't been there since 2009, so I figured it was definitely time to throw it back in the rotation.

I did have an ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch, but I canceled it the other day for a very specific reason. While I enjoy all the food at LTT my main reason for wanting to eat there is for the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. If you've ever tried it, you know what I mean. Well, about a week or so ago I found a recipe for it on Pinterest. I gave it a try in hopes I could come close to duplicating the amazingness I have come to love from LTT. And let me tell you, it tastes EXACTLY the same! Here is a picture of my homemade creation.

Oh heavens this was good! And it made a ton of food too! I ate this for dessert every night for a week. Now that I can make this at home I have no real reason to visit LTT this trip, so I canceled our ADR. Now that opens up a lunch for us at MK. I might make an ADR for The Plaza since we have never eaten there before. Any thoughts on the best lunch spot at MK?

This is how our food is shaping up so far:
10/16 Breakfast at Olivia's, Rest of the day open
10/17 Breakfast at Olivia's, Dinner at Jiko
10/18 Breakfast at Olivia's, Rest of the day open
10/19 Lunch at Be Our Guest, Rest of the day open
10/20 Breakfast at Contempo Cafe, Dinner at Artist Point
10/21 Breakfast at Crystal Palace, Rest of the day open
10/22 Breakfast at Boardwalk Bakery, Rest of the day at F&W Fest
10/23 Breakfast at Starring Rolls, Dinner at Flying Fish
10/24 Breakfast at Boardwalk Bakery, Rest of the day at F&W Fest
10/25 Breakfast at Boardwalk Bakery, Rest of the day at F&W Fest
10/26 Breakfast at Kona Cafe, lunch at Earl of Sandwich

There are some World Showcase restaurants we would love to eat at, but I know it will be hard to tear ourselves away from F&W. There will definitely be a few trips to Wolfgang Puck Express in there too. I need at least 2 meatloaf sandwiches this trip. I'm going to refrain from making any further ADRs and let the chips fall where they may each day. There is always great food to be found all over WDW without any reservations.

Well, I just couldn't help myself. I added another day onto the beginning of the trip. Count us in for one more night at OKW. There is just no way we can make it down to Port St. Lucie this summer, so I won't be adding on 3 or 4 more days like I hoped, but I'll settle for one extra day.

Now we will be driving up to Orlando from Port St. Lucie as early as we can manage on Tuesday October 15 to check in at OKW. Now I need to plan for that day. I'm thinking about starting out at Magic Kingdom. Or possibly breakfast at WPE (I NEED a breakfast pizza) and then Epcot. Not sure yet. I'll probably change my mind 18 more times between now and October.

It's somewhat different for me to keep switching hotels because we are using DVC points. For me, all I had to do was log into my account, see what's available for the dates I wanted to go and decide how many of my points I wanted to use. We kept adding days on to the beginning of the trip and I couldn't get all the days I wanted at BWV, so that's why we are doing 3 different places. I'm only using my DVC points and no additional cash out of pocket. To keep switching hotels on a cash reservation would probably be very expensive. We have our rooms booked separate from our tickets and no meal plan booked, so it doesn't affect us in a negative way.

As far as it being a pain though, that is another issue. I am totally fine with it, I know what I'm getting myself into, but my husband is a little bit on the fence about it. We will have our car so we can drive to each new location on our own schedule. As far as packing goes, I am super prepared this trip. I have one big bag I will use for all toiletries, so at the end of each stay all that stuff will get thrown back in that bag. I also have a bunch of different weekender and duffle bags from Vera Bradley, so I will pack separate bags for each of us for each different hotel. That way all we have to do at the end of one hotel stay is throw all dirty clothes in a bag, all toiletries in another bag and take 3 bags down to the car, then when we get to the new hotel grab the toiletries bag and our 2 new bags with fresh clothes. I will have it very organized to make the transition to each hotel as painless as possible. I tend to keep our room tidy and organized while we are at hotels anyway, so I don't think it will be too bad to keep everything together and get out in a timely manner on check out days. We did a split stay last trip and the day we switched it took me maybe 15 minutes to be packed and ready to go the morning of check out.

Split stays are not for everyone, but I think for us it will work out great!

I actually booked Liberty Tree Traven back in December because everyone raved about that lovey gooey dessert. But we sly missed our reservation ate dinner there which was nice and tried the apple pie dessert which was just okay. I'm not sure if I saw a link to that recipe might try it myself lol. Hi there! Thanks for stopping by!

We have been to WDW in October a few times and I love it. October and early December are my two favorite times to go. We have done MNSSHP a few times, but no plans to do it this trip. How about you?

Here is a link to the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake recipe I used. The vanilla bean ice cream and extra heath pieces on top are key!

Oh man, you still have a little ways to go until your trip. That is so exciting that this will be your first WDW trip! I haven't been to Disneyland in 8 years, but I would love to go back. Just another note on resort hopping for you, I know that there is a system in place where they will deliver your luggage to your new resort if you are switching hotels during your stay. I don't know all the details, because I haven't personally used it, but I have seen others discussing it here on the boards. It seems like they make it easy for you if you want to resort hop during your stay, but don't want to go through the hassle of dragging all your luggage to the new resort.

Please feel free to ask me any questions at all! I LOVE to talk WDW with people planning their trips.

3 months from today we will be starting our drive down to Florida!

I hate to wish my summer away, but I am so ready for this trip to happen.

Today I want to share with you my favorite craft I have done so far. The Disney Princess ribbons! These are so fun and cheap to make. They are also surprisingly easy to make as well. I used an online tutorial which you can find HERE.

I started out with the Aurora ribbon because the tutorial said it was the easiest one to do. And also because she's my favorite.

I stopped by the local craft store and bought a few spools of ribbon and a small hot glue gun. With the coupon I had and the ribbon sale that was going on I got everything I needed for under $10.

The finished product!

I just realized this picture is slightly out of focus, but pretty cool right?!

I was hooked! Now I needed to run back to the craft store, armed with more coupons, and get the ribbon colors needed for some of the other princesses.

Up next is Ariel, which I think turned out really cute.

Then I tried Cinderella. Love it!

After that I tried Snow White. I need to do another one of these because it looks a little sloppy. Her hair on the top is not black as ebony. More like, clear as hot glue.

Up next, we have Alice.

Then we have Tinker Bell. After I did this one I found some very lovely clear and sparkly ribbon that I think would look better for the wings. I'll post a pic after I make one with the new ribbon.

And last we have my favorite one I've done so far. Belle.

That little rose has been the only thing, so far, that was difficult to make. I was dealing with such tiny pieces of ribbon, so it was hard to get it into the shape I wanted.

After I made the ribbon princesses I added them to headbands.

I had a hard time getting clear pictures of these on my camera phone. I need to try again with my regular camera, but you get the idea.

These will be so cute to wear around the parks! I'm still a kid at heart!

Thanks for joining in! I was just reading your Fall PTR. Looks like we will just miss each other in October. That is so great that you have 3 trips planned. Hopefully if we make the move down to Florida we will be able to go very often as well.

Crafts are so much fun! I would never have the time to do them if I was working right now. It has been a great thing to try while I have the time. It keeps me away from the tv!
