Hi there! I've been all over these boards with my questions and advice seeking. I guess I never posted in this thread about our final plans. I'd LOVE to be a part of the Boardwalk Bulletin!!

My hubby and I are taking our first solo trip February 1-8 and staying at the BWI in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary.

It's our 6th or 7th trip to WDW, but it's also a few "firsts" for us:

1st trip without our kids (now 22 and 23 years old)
1st stay at a Deluxe resort
1st trip during a non-peak time

It's been a bit of a dream to stay at the Boardwalk Inn. It's still a little out of our price range, but with the 35% discount and the fact that it is our 25th wedding anniversary, we said "let's go for it!!"

I soooooooo can't wait.

No, there is only one check in desk.

Thanks. If you have time to add me to the bulletin, feel free. 10/4 to 10/10. BWV standard view studio. But, my dates may change with the school calendar or a couple days at VGF. If you would prefer to wait, then that it is ok.

Hi. Just had a few quick questions without reading the whole thread.

Dh and I are planning for 2 days at the BWI using his ff miles.

We would be coming from the Beach club So we would just bring our luggage over ourselves on the boat. So how do you go from the boat dock to the check in desk?

Also how deep is the pool?

And all they have available is one bed, standard view it states, so I am assuming that is a king bed? Also just curious how are those views? I am not all that concerned since its only 2 nights. Are any of those rooms close to an elevator. That would probably be my only request.

TIA for the info

I can only help with this one question. Sorry!

When I tried a few years ago to get on a Disney bus with my luggage to move to another resort, they told me I *had* to use Bell Services to move luggage (or drive myself.) In other words, they would not allow me to use their transportation system to take luggage from one place to another, even though I was moving from one Disney hotel to another.

Honestly, though, by the time you walk to the dock where the boat lands you could be probably halfway to the Boardwalk taking your luggage with you. Yes, then you have the other half to walk before you'd get to the dock where the boat lands, but you won't have to potentially be turned back when trying to take your luggage on the boat.

If you really want to take the boat, I'd ask (sans luggage) a Cast Member one day if there would be a problem. Then you can make your final decision ahead of time.

Regardless, from the boat dock at the Boardwalk, you'll be facing what I consider to be the "back" of the resort (honestly, it's got so many sides that I'm pretty sure that's nowhere near accurate, but it's how my brain works.) You have two choices -- the lobby where you need to check in is straight ahead of you, if your back is to the boat dock. However, it's on the second floor and you're standing at ground level. You can go straight ahead through the grass -- or follow the sidewalks around that lawn, as it's not exactly a couple of steps -- and then go up the stairs to the lobby. Or you can take the right-hand sidewalk around that lawn past the Wyland Gallery, turn right and go through a "tunnel" (past the game room on the left and the bathrooms on the right) until you come out at the fancy pool. Turn left and open the doors to go down a hall (past the gym) to the elevators, take the elevator to the 2nd floor, turn right from the elevators and walk a little bit to the lobby. The first way is certainly more direct and easy to explain, but it does mean you'll be hauling however much luggage up the stairs to the second floor.

Personally, I'd take advantage of the fact that you're going from a Disney hotel to another Disney hotel and use Bell Services. I don't know how long it would take them to get your luggage from one room to the other, but I'd rather wait on it than have to haul it around myself.

Is it really a rule about no luggage on the transportation because we did it just last month. Maybe we got lucky?

We took the 2 suitcase from the Swan got on the friendship and took it over to the Beach Club around 11:30 am. The crew didnt say anything to us. I also loaded my wheelchair with the carryons and just pushed it on too.

My dh cant leave his computer case at all since his computer belongs to the govt. and he has to observe someone put it in a locked room etc. And he likes to just do everything in one shot and not worry about it etc.

I just watched a video of the christmas decorations and they look really nice.

Also how deep is the pool?

The Luna Park pool is four feet, ten inches at its deepest point. The other pools are five feet at their deepest point.

Regarding the luggage - I never let anyone else touch my laptop. I'd bring it myself but I'd let Disney move the bags. Not sure what you do about your laptop though if your room isn't ready when you check in.

That is a nice amount of FF miles! We were able to stay at AoA on FF miles last year!

It's certainly been a few years since I had that experience. I think, for the original poster, the best thing to do would be to talk to a couple of the Cast Members who run the boats. It shouldn't be a difficult question - just "can I bring my luggage on the boat and go over to the Boardwalk" should get you a 'yes or no' answer. Of course, I haven't had more than a rolling carryon no matter how long of a stay I make in probably more than a decade, so waiting for a boat when I could just walk around the lake makes no sense to me and that probably helped inform my answer.

(I don't know, though, if the fact that you were coming from what is, technically, *not* a Disney owned hotel made a difference in your case. You were, to my understanding, using Disney transportation but I don't know that you would have been able to use Bell Services to go from the Swan to the Beach Club. That might have had something to do with it?)

Glad everyone liked the pics. We're staying in a 1BR on the Villa side, we ended up getting the same exact room we were in last year on the 5th floor, mid hallway. Not too long of a walk from the elevators, and the view is perfect. Today was an AK day, and everything is nuts here. Combination of jersey week, last weekend of Food and Wine, Veterans Day weekend (thank you to any veterans and their family!!), and the big half-marathon tonight. This morning after we got up I went out to take some pics while my wife was in the shower (I love how serene Crescent Lake is in the mornings), and there was a large group running around the lake chanting very loudly. At 6:30 am.

And you can see my camera gets tilted when I haven't had my morning coffee yet!

No runners this time. Just nice colors at dusk.

We will be there the 4th-7th. This is about our fourth trip without our kids (23,20,20) and you will love it. We have stayed at Deluxe's before, but this will be the first time at BWI. Like you, it is a little out of our price range, but it was on my bucket list and the 35% off tripped the trigger. We always go on non peak times. My wife and I are taking our kidless trips very seriously, as we just peruse at our own pace. Figure we have a few more trips of our own before the hectic grandkid trips start to appear on the horizon.

I sooooooooo can't wait either

I think both of you will enjoy!! We do adult only trips, and obviously we love it. The Boardwalk is our happy place.

So someone asked recently about seeing fireworks from the Villa side. Well, it was a busy evening. At the same time Illuminations:

Wishes:

And entertainers:

Obviously it's not like a MK view room at CR or the Poly, but still you can see some fireworks for sure!
