Your first solo trip? How exciting! I made my first solo trip a couple of years ago and it was so much fun. I got to do what I wanted, when i wanted, met some cool people, just a great time. so much fun that I've done it a couple of more times, basically my philosophy now is I can afford to go and no one else ca afford it, I'm still going Seriously considering upgrading my ticket to an annual pass when my friend and I go in September because I know i want to go back in the spring. i'm addicted!
I can't wait to hear all your adventures!
Welcome! I totally agree, it's awesome to just do whatever the heck you want. Hahah wow, that's cool! I completely get it though. I guess we're all pretty addicted around here!

I hope I got the song right. If so, girl I have been jamming that song since I was 8 & now I'm 26. lol
HAHAHA, that's too funny! I actually didn't even know there was a song! I just saw the sign at Pop Century and I was like, "YES, YES I CAN DIG IT." I just had to use it in the TR! I'll definitely have to look that song up though, haha. Thanks for joining!

The One Where We Get the Party Started On A Tuesday Morning

The One Where We Get the Party Started On A Tuesday Morning

Day 1: Tuesday, May 28, 2013

I remember it like it was this morning. I woke up, stretched, lounged around in bed for a few minutes, checked twitter, made some coffee, and casually started to get ready for the day.

Just kidding. That WAS this morning.

On the day that my Disney trip began, I heard about three seconds of my alarm ringtone ('Mickey Mouse March') before I CATAPULTED off the bed.

I mean... I was excited.

Never mind the fact that it was 3:47 am. (Yes. I wake up on 7's. Have to.)

I didn't care.

IT WAS DISNEY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After almost 10 months of waiting, I was finally going back to my favorite place in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On normal mornings, if I haven't slept enough the night before, I'm basically useless. I forget simple concepts such as how many sides a square has and how to spell my middle name.

(Slight exaggeration.)

On Disney days, however, it DOES NOT MATTER how many hours/minutes/seconds of sleep I have gotten. It's like I've slept for a full eight hours, even though that is never the case. (I had managed to get a little bit less than two hours of sleep on this particular day.)
I'M JUST READY. GO AHEAD, ASK ME HOW MANY SIDES A SQUARE HAS. I DARE YOU.

Right, so after I catapulted off the bed (and totally stuck the landing) I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off. I got ready as fast as I've ever gotten ready, packed all my last minute items, had a SMALL breakfast (I have a nervous stomach when I'm flying), and then realized that I could have slept longer. I think I got ready TOO fast, to be honest. I was just too excited. I was ready by 4:30 and my flight wasn't until 7:45. DRAT! (I think that may be the first time in my life that I've ever used that word.)

My dad likes to get to the airport early though, so I went with it. He was taking me to the airport, so I said goodbye to my mom and my cat (brother was still sleeping), loaded my stuff into my dad's truck, and off we went!

This entire morning was a complete blur, to be honest with yall. Everything went very smoothly and before I knew it, it was time for me to board the plane! I was really nervous about this flight for some reason. I have flown alone several times before, so I don't really know what my deal was that morning. I think all my excited jitters confused me or something! Hahah I don't know, I was just nervous. Thankfully it all went really well! The guy that sat next to me on the plane looked so much like my uncle C.D., it was insane. During the flight I listened to my 'PLANE' playlist (which consisted of the soundtracks to my three very favorite Disney movies) and played PacMan on my iPod. I also took this picture:

Isn't it BEAUTIFUL? No? Okay.

Thankfully, the time passed really quickly! It's not a long flight at all (less than two hours) but flights never seem short, even when they are! We landed early, and as soon as I walked into MCO, all my excitement just FLOODED out of me and I couldn't contain it anymore!

It really hit me that it was actually happening when I saw the big signs for New Fantasyland all over the airport! For those of you who may not know, I didn't look at any pictures of New Fantasyland before my trip at all. So seeing those signs made it so much more real, and I remembered that I was actually going to see it all! It was such an awesome feeling!

I made it to Magical Express with no problem at all and they directed me to lane 8. If you haven't been to MCO in the last month or two, they changed Magical Express! They now have these little desks to check in at, and they don't have the resorts listed on the signs in the lines anymore. (At least, they didn't that particular day!)

The bus driver was too adorable, yall. He was one of the ones you want! He was genuinely excited for all of us to be going to Disney! It was just too cute. The people behind me were insanely annoying, but hey, what can you do? I wasn't at a good position to get a picture of the sign, but we all know what it looks like, right? I probably wouldn't have been able to get a good picture anyway because I was too busy crying from happiness. It happens.

I have to give a shoutout to Theresa, DisneyArb here on the DIS! She was kind enough to warn me about the New Fantasyland footage on the Magical Express video! I should have figured there would be, but I'm so glad she warned me anyway! I was able to successfully avoid watching it. I would have been so annoyed if I'd avoided pictures for 8 months only to have everything ruined at the last possible second! So thank you once again, Theresa!

I was amazed at how quickly we got to our first stop after we passed under the sign! The first stop was Art of Animation! I was so insanely excited to see this place in person! I think I was actually more excited to see it than my own resort, but in all honesty I wanted to stay there more anyway! (It was booked solid. Of course!) Everyone on the bus got off at AoA except for me and another couple. Our next stop was... Pop Century! My stop!

This was my first time staying at Pop, and even though it wasn't my first choice, I was still very excited! (I was way more excited for the resort I checked into later on in the trip... but we'll get to that! )

I was the only person on the entire bus that was getting off here, and when I was thanking the bus driver, I said, "I think it's just me!" And he said, "Just one beautiful woman." AWWW! What a flatterer. I wasn't mad though. I went inside and was able to check in right away! The guy who checked me in was so welcoming and nice. He gave me very simple directions to get to my room, but listen. I'm very directionally challenged. Seriously. I got lost. VERY lost. I basically walked around the entirety of the 70's and 80's sections before I finally found the correct building.

So... GUESS WHAT?!?! After I found my room location and as I was walking to it, I glanced over to my right, not expecting to see anything but trees, and I saw the coolest thing ever!

(Click on this image to watch a very short video! It's from Vine, the iPhone app. I know a lot of you probably don't have it, so that's why I wanted to share it on here! All the videos from Vine are 6-7 seconds each. Click!)

Did you click it? Okay, I know you can't see it in that video, but I was able to zoom in really far with my camera.

HOW COOL IS THAT? Okay, maybe it's not like castle-outside-your-window-level cool, but I still thought it was pretty dang awesome. It's a bit harder to see in the pictures, but you could really see it well in person! And at night it was all lit up! I loved it.

After all that excitement, I finally found my room and went in to check it out!

(I couldn't decide which of those pictures was better, so you get BOTH! Aren't you lucky?! )

You can't check into a Disney resort and not take a picture of the towel Mickey head!

And for good measure, here is Pluto breakdancing, to represent the decade I was born in, and the decade that I was in at Pop! YEAH, 80's!

Here is the bathroom:

Pretty basic stuff right there.

Here is the collage of 80's/Disney stuff!

(Sorry for the glare!)

That's basically it, as far as theming inside the room.

I wasn't there to stare at the room though. I had a very important mission to complete! I had waited long enough to see New Fantasyland. I had to go to Magic Kingdom!

I tried to find a shortcut to get to the bus stops, but instead I got lost again. Yikes. Don't worry, eventually I was able to find a short cut and know my way around the place!

Ahhh! Magic Kingdom, here I come!

Continued in Next Update

Glad your trip there went smooth. Just checking to see how rested you currently are - how many sides are there on a triangle? (I know, trick question) I rarely get more than 2 hours of sleep per night so I'm glad I'm not currently taking math classes, I just save lives for a living lol.

I am impressed with how dedicated you were to not seeing new fantasyland before you got there. I hope it lived up to the hype for you! I forgot about it being on the ME video. It was on Stacy so I'm glad you didn't turn that on right away. I like to have it on in the room.

I'm seriously directionally challenged. Good thing I wasn't solo on our trip last month. I kept trying to get off the bus and walk to the parking lots at Epcot and HS. Maybe it's the no sleep thing? Lol.

We stayed in the 80s section our 2nd time at pop. AoA was amazing, Hope you get to stay there soon!

Haha yes I did indeed notice all the various "look-aways" directed at you in various trip reports. Be that as it may, it's still extremely impressive that were able to actually do it. Thankfully I didn't have to, having been in MK on the first soft opening in October. I would not have had your resolve.

Seriously, how did I not see the "Walt Disney World" sign from POP. How is that even possible!!?? OMG That's World Drive!
Oh man that's cool!

Following along. I can not image ever doing a solo trip (I think I would bore myself) so I am interested in how yours goes.

Love the pictures of the Pop.

Wow I never knew you could see the entrance to WDW! Cool! I watched the video but didn't really catch what you were showing off!

BAHAHAHA I seriously just laughed out loud at your catapulting out of bed and sticking the landing. Mainly because, can you imagine if you just jumped out of bed, did a double twist, stuck the landing, and did the gymnast wave?! I picture the most random things, hahaha.

I get the nervous thing, too, when flying... especially early morning flights! I'm so jealous your flight is under 2 hours though! That's seriously awesome. Even Disneyland is still a 2 1/2 hour flight for us.

AHH I love that you can see the WDW sign! THAT IS SO NEAT.

I can't wait to hear all about your time at Magic Kingdom and your first sighting of New Fantasyland!!

Yippee...a new Marissa Trip Report! I can't wait to hear your description of NFL and find out what you thought of POR!

I stayed at POP for one night and managed to get incredibly lost on the way to the room. It was like 1 a.m. after MNSHHP, and I was seriously tempted to sleep by the pool!

How cool that you had a room with a view (yes, it totally counts!!)!
