PLEASE help me get re-excited!!

I am currently sailing on the Sept 7th Dream, and just found out it will be decorated for HALLOWEEN! I am BEYOND upset.

If I wanted to sail on a holiday themed cruise, I would have booked one in October.

So please, PLEASE calm me down, and enlighten me on just how decorated the ship is.

My biggest issue is that this is my boyfriends first cruise ever, and I feel that it won't be as magical because he won't get to experience the classic beauty of the ship and it make me so freakin ANGRY.

And no, I can't cancel and move my cruise because I'm in a one bedroom.

I feel like freaking crying because I wanted this trip to be PERFECT since it will most likely be the last legitimate family vacation since I'm 24, and I'll be moving out soon.

On a scale of one to gaudy, is it really that bad? Is it contained to mostly the atrium? What about the music played in the halls? Is it still classic, or is it Halloween inspired?

I haven't been on the ship during that time. Hopefully someone will chime in.

I can say though that I have been to the parks during that time and it is really neat. I don't care much for Halloween but I really enjoyed the decorations. It was more of a fall motif. Mickey pumpkins and with greenery on the polls. Really nicely done. I would think the ship would be the same way. Also, the decorations aren't probably all over the ship and when you get off and are in port you won't see them either. I also can't imagine them doing much to the outside view of the ship. I am sure it will still be beautiful and the both of you will have a great time! Get excited! You'll be on a Disney cruise!! Yeah!!

Oh I just looked - Google Halloween on the High Seas Disney Dream and look at the images. There are pics there that should answer some of your questions. There seems to be a lot of decorations in the main area but they do look tasteful.

First off, virtually no vacation is perfect. You are already setting yourself up for disappointment by expecting everything to be perfect for the entire cruise. What is going to happen when one person doesn't like one of their dishes at dinner? What happens if it rains? What happens if someone gets sunburned? You need to get over the expectation that it everything will be perfect and just relax and enjoy the time with your family and your BF. You are on a Disney cruise!! You will have fun, that's what matters not what the decorations are.

it wont' be bad at all. Was actually on board Halloween last year. My BD is 10/27 so we took at 7-day. Don't worry about. I don't like Halloween, but had no problem with how they decorated the ship. Enjoy!

I was on the Dream over Christmas, disembark Dec 26. Lots of Christmas decorations in main areas, and some items in shops. Only decs elsewhere seemed to be room doors decorated by passengers. I'm guessing somewhat less decs for Halloween bc there will not be Christmas trees everywhere. . Nor the equivalent of the large gingerbread cottage.

I am not a fan of Halloween, as in I don't decorate or get into it, but do participate in events/parties at home. That said, all pics I have seen of a Disney version of Halloween are tasteful.

I think you will find it just fine as you will pass by decorations, but for the most part will not be surrounded by them.

Enjoy your one bedroom!

In a couple of years they will be decorated for Christmas in October!
The year they had Cinderella's castle decorated as a cake I hated it. That being said it didn't effect our vacation one bit.
Have a great time!

My first cruise was a Disney cruise(2011), and it was at the end of September. There were no Halloween decorations on the ship anywhere? I will be on the Sept. 7th sailing with you-where did you see the ship will be decorated for Halloween?

We did a cruise on the dream in October of 2012 and if the ship was decorated for Halloween it isn't even something that I remember so it must not have been over the top or wasn't decorated yet them.

It very could have been in the common areas but tastefully done so or else I would have noticed.

I've been on the Dream and Fantasy the last 2 years in the fall. The ships are beautiful and so were the decorations. Nothing obnoxious or overdone. Nothing that deters from the beauty of the ship. Relax and have a great cruise. (We are an adult couple cruising without children )

The decor is tastefully done and while there will be Halloween events or decorations it is not "in your face" over done. Most decor will be in the atrium area, again not overdone and you will see pumpkins in some of the dinning areas but DCL is very aware that not everyone in the world celebrates this holiday and that it is not a world-wide holiday so while you will see it, no fears you will certainly get the feel and decor of the ship as well.

I agree with Renysmom - I remember some decorations in the dining room the night of the party itself, and lots of people dressed in costume that night but not much else official. Many people also had Halloween door decorations.

We have been on Halloween cruises a few times and the décor is very subtle on not in your face. there will be a few cool looking ice sculptures/pumpkin sculptures around and some banners outside DLounge and some window clings. around No big deal at all.

The atrium...as you can see no real decorations

Hallway, no decorations

No decorations on elevators

Outside of Cabanas on Halloween Day:

So, the ship is not all tricked out in Halloween décor so you can rest easy and get re-excited!!!

Here is the list from the DCL website for when the ships will be decorated for Halloween:

Ship Sail Dates
Disney Magic September 27, 2014 - October 26, 2014
Disney Wonder September 26, 2014 - October 31, 2014
Disney Dream September 07, 2014 - October 31, 2014
Disney Fantasy September 06, 2014 - October 25, 2014

September 6/7 seems a little early to me, but I'm sure it'll be awesome!
