In room gifts

I just ordered an easter basket/gift to our room for our upcoming easter cruise. My kids are older so they do not believe in the easter bunny anymore. I figured a little extra surprise could be fun for them. DCL told me that all gifts get delivered the first day of the cruise. Can't be delivered on Easter. is this true? Not really a big deal for me but what if my kids were younger and what about birthdays?

I would consider it completely understandable if they were not able to hold gift packages until specific days. Storage must be more limited on a ship. I would guess if you order something perishable like a cake, it will be made available on the day you want it.

Good point about storage

If you are pre-purchasing an In-Room Gift (any gift) from the DCL site, AFAIK, it will be delivered on the first day of the cruise. If Easter isn't the first day of your cruise, then, yes, it can't be delivered on Easter.

Last year on our Easter cruise you could go down to the shop and select items and then have those delivered

You can't miss my DH. He's a big burly USMC redneck w/ a fanny pack and acting like a kid who can't wait for the next ride at WDW.

Knowing that, I would be the first one into the room and hide the gifts until Easter morning.

Where would one go to order a gift for arrival day? Is it literally waiting for you in your cabin when you first arrive?

You just go to the cruise line website, click planning and then gifts. To order you have to either call or fax the order form to them and the gifts are waiting for you in your room when you get there. You can send them to people sailing as long as you know their room number I believe. They have some cute gifts too.

Another option for gift baskets is http://www.theperfectgift.cc/ by Shirley. She has several basket options and she is always willing to work with you for special things you would like included.

Are "Shirley's" gifts in your room when you arrive?

Just a follow up since I saw this pop up to the top again and I am the OP. The in room gift was a waste of money, glad I only spent $26 on it. It was in the room when we arrived. The kids were so excited about being on the cruise they barely looked at it. I understand why it is in the room when you arrive but there are better things to be excited about at that time and it would have probably been more exciting if it could have arrived on Easter. It also didn't help that the quality of everything inside was pretty poor. Certainly didn't ruin an amazing cruise!
