2014 vs 2015- Shocked!

I was considering a 4 day Bahamas cruise around spring break in 2015, so I was perusing Cruisefish this morning. Wow, what a difference!

Opening day price was $1,168 for the week before Easter 2014 for a 5b room; in 2015, it is $1668. That's a 50% increase. Crazy...

I just booked our first DCL cruise for Jan 2015. From what I keep reading, I'm thankful for the fact that I'm ignorant to all the past pricing and special deals (kids sail free, etc)!

Is it the week before easter for both? Easter is on April 20th in 2014, but on April 5th in 2015. in 2015 it probably is a lot closer to spring break for many which from everything I've read drives up demand and therefore drives up price.

In addition to JohnDS points, is it the same vessel?

PS... that 30% not 50%, still a big difference.

Same vessel, different dates, both are the week before Easter.

PS. it is exactly a 42.8% increase, sorry if I overestimated.

Your are right!, my error, 43%. that is what I get for just pumping the numbers in the calculator and not thinking.

That's the Market value then! Maybe try another category? There are other lines, cheaper, you can consider.

Our spring break is always the week before Easter, along with many friends in other states, so the actual date really doesn't matter. The cruises before Easter & the week of have always been higher since so many schools plan spring break on one of those weeks.

OP, this is something that many have been upset about since opening day for 2015 dates that have been released. The 7 night Fantasy cruise that week has always gone up over 50%. It's ridiculous.

Our spring break is the first week of April, sometimes Easter is there, sometimes it's not. This year it's two weeks later.

around houston spring break is in Early March... and based on the crowds at WDW last year everyone heads over to florida... so high season is probably a range of a few weeks that DCL hedges it's bet on

It is crazy. It makes it harder to find a cruise we can afford. We end up having a smaller slice of DCL each time.

Anaheim, ATL, and Toledo apparently have that same week off. I't still crowded at the parks, but depending on when Easter falls, the cruise ships can be a lot less expensive

I have been wanting to go on a Disney Cruise for some time, so I'm going to bite the bullet and make a reservation before it goes even HIGHER!

Funny that another poster mentioned the Fantasy 7 day the week prior to Easter. That cruise has already had a price increase!

WHat's odd is that the boat this April isn't full...we easily booked two weeks ago, and there was availability everywhere

And they are running specials almost every month because the boats aren't full.
