Lights Motors Action Fastpass testing today

Just arrived at DHS & was handed a surprise FP for LMA at bag check. Will add a photo if I can figure out how to do it from my phone. It is for 11:10-11:35.

I think they will do this at times to attempt to get people to visit large capacity attractions/rides in order to spread the crowds more throughout the park, especially at crowded times, such as Star Wars Weekend. I know they have done this a lot with Mickey's Philharmagic at MK in the past.

That, and prepping for FP+.

Yes, it is a way to crowd control.

I don't think FP+ has much, if anything, to do with it. Since LMA once used FP (unlike Fantasmic), there is little more to learn about how FP+ would work there.

Redistribution of crowds is the goal.

Surprise fastpasses are given out independently of other fastpasses you might hold. Sometimes the surprise fastpass comes out of a machine as a second fastpass to the one you were trying to fetch.

I didn't realize the show had FP at one time. I've only seen it once & otherwise haven't really been interested in it. Thanks for enlightening me

We were in Hollywood Studios last Saturday; and they practically forced me to take this "fast pass", which was tossed after realizing they wanted us to go to the show at a time not consistent with our touring plan. I just look at it as I do with the placement of characters at the entrances of parks during park opening...there to sidetrack guests and disburse the crowds. We know the woes of sidetracked touring plans and have learned to stay the course for optimized attraction-catching, especially on a weekend that is close to a 10 out of 10 crowd level.

I'm aware of that. This one was given to me by a CM and wasn't the size/style of typical FPs. I called it a surprise FP because that's what it said at the top. See the photo in the second post.

In the case last Saturday, CM's were lined up right after you cross the turnstiles, with large stacks of them, passing them out to guests.

I trashed mine as well since I didn't plan to attend the show. Normally I would pass it along to someone else, but it's hard to find another solo guest.

I've gotten these each of the past two years I've gone to DHS (2011 and 2012). They are like those suprprise fastpasses you get for Philharmagic. Just intended to try and steer people towards the show during peak crowd times.

The show time is 11:50. I don't think a FP requiring you to show up by 11:35 is worth too much.

We've never arrived for LMA more than 15 minutes early, and there has always been plenty of seating.

Maybe by using FP, you get reserved front and center lower-row seats?
