We are also making our first trip to CBR in Sept. We've stayed in WL, and POR, but are really looking forward to CBR. We love POR, and probably would've gone back there, but we were sold on this place by an old fraternity brother of mine who is a CM. He and his family are coming to meet us for a few days, and he said this place had the best pools on site for our girls to play in. With all the research I've done, in getting more excited everyday.

Its height restricted. So it depends on how tall he is. They do enforce it from what I have seen. If he is too tall, there is lots to do at the main pool, including a very fun slide my kids loved!

OP, we also love CBR! I find myself looking at our CBR pics a lot lately which has me wondering if we'll actually stay there next year instead of POR lol.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the review

It's height restricted. DS was too tall at 7 and they absolutely would not let him enter. It was coldish, the pool was nearly empty, but it was a no go. Unless your 9 year old is very small, don't let him entertain that area as an option.

Can I just jump in and ask what the max. height is for the water play area at CBR? My DD will be nearly 6 when we go next year and is quite tall for her age. The pirate ship water play area was one of the main reasons for us choosing CBR!

Thanks

Claire

Unless they have changed it recently, the max height is 48 inches. I'm bummed cause that means that DD won't be able to play in that area this trip. But last time we were there, a little girl hit her head on part of the play structure and was bleeding pretty badly. The little girl was taller than my DD (who was already a bit over the height limit). So apparently they haven't always been as strict about the height rule. But it's understandable why they started to enforce it. And I'd rather deal with a disappointed kid than an injured kid.

Some people have said that bigger kids can go in with little siblings.

As the mom of an only, who doesn't WANT DS to be an only and wants more but the universe has said no for years now, this enrages me like I cannot even believe. If it's a restriction it's a restriction. If you're going to let in that tall child who was lucky enough to have parents lucky enough to have more or be able to afford to adopt others, then you had best let in mine, because his luck should have nothing to do with his ability to have fun in an area like that.

I'm slightly opinionated on it.

(and don't get me started on how only tiny children get to go in the ball pit at places like Ikea; just as kids stop having "but he is potty trained" accidents IN the ball pit, just as kids get more control over their bodies, just as they could really have some good fun...they are banned. Not at all fair!)

(ah, the outrages I have because my son is mystifyingly tall but is still 100% a kid...)

^ I hear ya on the whole single kid thing

I have never been to CBR but we'll be there in 17 days and we're beyond excited. I think it looks beautiful and peaceful and exactly what we're looking for. Aside from them not having queen beds (which I would have loved) and the latest no-blanket thing... I'm not really sure what all these negative comments are all about. Everything I've read has been about 95% positive. And nothing is ever 100% because someone usually complains about something stupid, so you have to read read into things. But anyway.... SEVENTEEN DAYS! Yaaaay! lol

My girlfriend and I, (now wife and mother of our 2 Children) stayed there in 99`. We loved it. We stayed in Jamaica which is a nice stroll, especially for morning coffee, through Caribbean Cay Island with lush tropical plants, flowers and animals, to get to Old Port Royal. Rooms were spacious and quiet. Although not as big as POR, POFQ, or CSR. 300 sqf. vs 314 sqf. CBR. Counter service (mostly for breakfast was large and never had a problem with crowds. Bus service was never and issue either. You can either get the bus from OPR, or there are bus stops around the property. The only negative I can throw out is that they should have put some of the Pirate rooms a little closer to OPR, I read that it is a pretty far walk to get to OPR. and taking the inner bus does not appeal to me at all. We offered the choice of AoA, or Caribbean beach, and the kids choose CBR, I think they liked the pool, and playground area. This will be our first visit with kids, so we will see how it goes. I know my wife and I are excited.

OP - so glad you weren't swayed by the negative reviews and found what a gem CBR is. We had the same trepidation before our first stay and fell in love with CBR. After 4 stays, it's home now.

I stayed at CBR with my 3 kids by myself. Since we are a family of five, but we drove down and my DH had to finish two days at work so we decided to stay at CBR since normally we can't with five.

We LOVE it! Food court was so much less crowded than POR. The palm trees appeal to much more than POR. Just really enjoyed it. We didn't use the transportation since I had my own car though.

Since I was there alone with my three kids (8, 6 and 4 at the time), there was a time that my 4 year old wanted to do the pirate ship. I asked the kid there if I could bring in my 8 and 6 year old since I was there alone and didn't want the others swimming without me. He said fine. I will tell you my older daughter was bored in 3 mins flat. She much preferred the pool and slides to the pirate area. She mostly sat with me and watched her brother and sister play. Until we all went back to the pool area.

CBR is my 'home' resort and the first resort I stayed at while going to Disney. I have fond memories there and have never had a bad experience. So glad to hear you had a good time.
