Glad you had a great time and loved the lodge. WL CL is one of our favorites .

Gotta get on the phone with Disney and book that extra night now... and and extra day in the parks... and an extra free meal.
That should help my surprise play out just fine. Only now the family will know we are staying at WL when we get to the airport and get into the WL queue at ME. The anticipation on the bus ride should be awesome. 104 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on adding a day and flying instead of driving .

I tried searching the thread, but didn't find my answer. If I wanted to book a room that did not overlook the lobby when I came out of the room door (it's a height thing) what type of room would I need? Are there rooms that have a view of the Magic Kingdom that are not directly adjacent to the lobby?

Thanks!

Good question! People ask about requesting these rooms, but avoiding them is good for those concerned about noise, or in your case height as you walk along the open hallways. Any of the three room categories (Standard, Woods View, or Courtyard View) could work for you, I would just add the request of "Not open to Lobby". Looking at the map you'll see that the majority of the rooms aren't open to the lobby, just the few on the left side.

The Standard View rooms that don't open to the lobby are in the middle of the North Wing, but are above a loading dock area. Higher floors give you a chance at seeing Wishes over the trees.

There are lots of Woods View Options, either in the far part of the North wing or the middle section of the South wing.

For Courtyard View, all except the very few "Bear Face" rooms are away from the lobby. You could request inner courtyard to overlook the main pool, or Villas courtyard for the South side of the South wing.

Enjoy your trip!

If you book a woods view room, and request North wing, Otter Pond, upper floor, you not only have a good chance of seeing MK but you won't be near the open lobby. The north wing rooms use the elevator that comes out right by Roaring Forks and is very convenient.

price changes on package offers

We're starting to plan our 2nd stay at WL (last stay was in Dec. 2009) and I went in to get an offer a couple of days ago, but didn't fully reserve it because I wasn't sure about the exact time yet.

I went back in today, and now the price has changed. It was $3,600 (and something) before, and now it is $4,100. Is it normal for resorts to keep changing the price for the same time frame? And should I now wait to see if it goes back down? Thanks.

We absolutely LOVE WL. I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Ticket prices were updated (increased) recently. Maybe that is the difference?

The room rates (rack rates) for the year don't change during the year. They stay the same until Jan 1st of the next year. Disney is updating the website today and people are reporting seeing some strange things. I would wait until later today to see if Disney is through with their updates.

Once rack rates are released, they don't change. I would double check that the ticket days are the same as you priced before, as well as any add ons (hopper, WP&M, etc). I know there was supposed to be a ticket price increase, but I'm not sure when that was supposed to take effect.

Thank you both very much. It's good to hear that they don't randomly change their quotes! I requested courtyard view, no park hopper, 6 day park pass and no dining plan both times. I sent my husband the first quote via email so that is how I know it is different.

I've also been having some really quirky things happening with my dining reservations, so maybe it is connected to that. A $500 price difference is significant! I'll check back tomorrow. Thanks again!

How long does it take to stroll over to Fort Wilderness from WL? The photos look so inviting! Also, is there a dairy bar or bakery at Fort Wilderness?

You're welcome . I'm sure it's just a mistake as I have seen posts about the website doing weird things, so hopefully the quirks will be worked out and you will get the correct pricing .

Probably a 10 minute walk. Depends on how you fast you walk. And I don't know about the bakery thing but I know WL has Roaring Forks for that kind of stuff.

I hope you have better luck than us. We were so excited when Air Tran's sale came out this week, which meant our family of FOUR could now FLY to Disney round trip for under $390!!!! We wanted to simply add an additional night to our vacation package (which includes free dining) and spend the day at the pool. Unfortunately they no longer have our room (standard) available with the offer. The only way we could change is to upgrade the room for the entire duration of the stay, which is so costly. Any chance you think more standard rooms will be released for the month of September?

Thanks. I just had mild curiosity about what might be a possible treat at FW. We have never been there so don't really have an idea
