Welcome and great justification switch. You're going to love the Lodge at Christmastime

Also is anyone familiar with where the CL bunk rooms are located? During our previous WL stays we had a room in the north wing and could see Wishes in the distance so I'd like to do that again if there are bunk bed rooms on the north side of the hotel on the CL floor.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Welcome! Just adding that the bunks are spread out randomly throughout the resort, but as was already posted, there are bunks on the 7th floor in the North Wing. You can just email the IPO and they will add your request for a North Wing Bunk to your reservation.

We were hoping to do Chip N Dale's campfire afterwards and we are also interested in horseback riding, animals, and the sleigh ride. Does anyone know if the Sleigh ride will be opened by then or do they wait until later in the season? Also, what's the easiest way to get to/from the campfire/animals? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
According to the Disney website, it looks like the rides are only offered in December, but you can make recreation reservations up to 6 months in advance so you could try now to make one for November and see if it's bookable.

Holiday sleigh rides depart from the main entrance of Crockett's Tavern at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground every 30 minutes and are offered nightly during the month of December.

Chip 'N Dale's Campfire is located near the Meadow Trading Post which is not in the same location as the horses/ponies and sleigh ride. (Those are near the walking path and boat dock area). You can take the internal bus near the ponies/Pioneer Hall or you could even walk. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Pioneer Hall area. The path to/from WL -FW is not lit, so I would take the boat back after dark.

You have the best chance of seeing the castle and fireworks in a woods view room, north side, 6th floor. Some inner courtyard rooms in the south wing on the highest floors near the Bay Lake end of the building might have a view, too.
Would love to have this room 6010! Where is it located to lobby and transportation?

The room location map might help here.

Those rooms are in about the mid to East end of the last section of the North Wing. For access down to the pool area, the elevators in the middle of the North Wing let you out right next to Roaring Fork. From there you can walk East toward the boat dock, or head West and up the ramp into the lobby and toward the bus transportation. From the 4th floor or higher you could also take the hallway around to the lobby and take the lobby elevators down. The bus stop is on the South West side of the lobby, or the lower left on the map.

I'd say those rooms are very close for Roaring Fork, relatively close to the boats, and a moderate distance to the lobby. They are almost as far as you can be from the buses, but at WL that really isn't very far. (Like maybe a couple minute walk.) Happy planning and enjoy your trip.

Transportation Question

What's the quickest way to get to MK from WL using Disney transportation? We have a CRT dining reservation at 4:10pm so trying to figure out how much time to allow for transportation. I've never stayed here before so not sure how the whole transportation issue works.

Thanks everyone!!!

As far as time in transit, the bus is the quickest at just about 5 minutes to MK. The boat takes about 12 minutes, assuming it isn't stopping at FW as well, which sometimes happens in the middle of the day. The big variable though is waiting for the boat or bus to arrive. Either one should have under a 20 minute wait, but sometimes it is longer. Our experience has been that the boats are a little more consistent (and a lot prettier ride), but we have had good luck getting there quickly by bus.

With any transportation issue there are no guarantees, so allowing extra time is always good. We would allow 45 min to get to MK and into the park.

Perfect. I was thinking 30-45 minutes so I'll just be super safe and stick with 45. So does the bus to MK not stop at any other resorts? Thanks so much!

Question! Do the fridges at WL have a small freezer section in them? I've got bad knees and usually like to ice them down after a day in the parks. I was hoping to bring my gel freeze packs if possible.
Thanks in advance!!

Our fridge this past September did not have a freezer section. There is ice available from the vending machines though, so maybe pack some zip-lock bags.

Great suggestion! Due to the epic fridge recall of 2013, the old fridges with freezers were replaced with fridges without a freezer compartment:

So, we finally cancelled our May 2014 Polynesian reservation and switched to the Wilderness Lodge. Reports of an 8 month long pool renovation were enough to make us switch. Happy to be joining this thread! Does anyone know if you can still roast marshmallows at the WL, and if so, where and what times?

The WL webpage says yes, but doesn't give a time. I would ask the front desk at check in, or a CM if you happen to need to call about something.

"Stories, songs and more keep the kids entertained and provide a memorable way to cap off your day.

Gather ’round the campfire for lively storytelling, spirited sing-alongs and tasty treats: we’ll provide complimentary marshmallows and roasting sticks, while supplies last. For super sweet tooths, s’mores kits and other refreshments are available for purchase at most locations — or you can bring your own. Blankets or something to sit on are welcome so that you and your brood can get comfy and cozy."
