Can you walk right out to the grounds from the room? Is this a good level to stay on or is it a noisy area to be in? I am sure if we had a courtyard room, it would be very noisy due to pool noise. Noise does not bother us but don't really want too loud of sounds. We were thinking if we had a upgrade to courtyard, a first floor room would be convenient while using the pool area.
Congratulations on coming over to WL! We have never had a 1st floor room, but perhaps someone else who has will comment. They have patios which tend to be bigger than the balconies, but I am not sure you could walk to the pool from many of the patios. There is landscaping in the way for many of them.
As far as noise goes, opinions differ on the pool noise. The afternoon pool parties can be loud, but we aren't in the room during them usually. If you wanted a quiet courtyard view you could get one that overlooks the villas courtyard on the South side of the South wing. The downside is the view isn't as good, and the price category is still courtyard. Overall though the resort is wonderful and you should have a great time.

I wasn't sure if that's because it's still to far out for us or if it had to do with the fact that our salute tickets are not activated yet.

Any info on how you were able to link your tickets would be much appreciate and thanks so much for the information!
I'd be GLAD to help!

First we got our ticket from the local FMWR/ITR site. They are green voucher type tickets this year. (before we have had the hard tickets) There is a long code on the bottom left of the back of the card. You take that code and you put it to the "link existing reservations and tickets" on the MDE site. On the phone just go to the "Tickets and Passes" under "My Reservations" and enter in the ID. My friend tried to scan hers in (she is military too) and was unable to scan but entered in the number and had no issue.

We have linked our accounts and have been able to schedule all the FP+s together with no issue! Let me know if you have any further questions!

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure if the system has been updated or not, but I've read online that because the salute tickets are vouchers that affects the FastPass+. Since you link the vouchers with your app and schedule your FastPass+ but when you turn in the vouched to activate them you'll be given a RFDI ticket/card with a different number code than your vouched, therefore your FastPass+ schedule will be connected to your vouched but not your actual hard ticket (possibly making your FastPass+ selections null and void). Maybe they will transfer over your FastPass+ selections to your new hard ticket when you arrive and activate your tickets, but I'm not sure about that.

I do hope it works though cause I want to link my tickets to the app so I can start making my FastPass selections. I might try to link our vouchers (thanks for letting me know how to do that!) and hope that it won't be effected negatively when we activate the tickets at the gate.

Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it!

What year was this taken? The furniture is an older style, but I love the colors.

Just checked online to see if the standard view rooms were available under the new RO discounts for my dates (Feb. 1-7) and it says "rooms unavailable". I currently have a standard booked and was hoping to just apply the discount. What are my chances of standard rooms becoming available? How often should I check back? I'm assuming I'm going to have to upgrade today to woods view so I can get the discount. Not happy about spending the extra money.

Just call and ask them to apply the room only discount to your current reservation. You have nothing to lose by asking, and the CM might just do it for you. I had no trouble getting discounts applied to our room and our daughter's room, even though she had made her reservation separately and under her married name. The CM's can be very accommodating sometimes.

FWIW -woods view is a lot better than standard view, and it isn't much more per day. Most of the standard view rooms at WL are some of the worst room locations in all of WDW, in my opinion. Who wants to have a room over a loading dock?

Thanks for pointing out the silver lining. I'm thankful for the discount even though it was slightly smaller than I planned.

Just got booked in woods view by my TA. She had priced standard to be more last thrursday with visa. I think standard is only avail at SPD. Woods view with RO was cheaper than SPD at standard.

69 days until our next vacation!!! I logged into
MDE this morning and for the first time there is an option to make FP+ selections. I clicked on it but it only tells me to make sure I link my tickets and family to my reservation. Hopefully I will actually be able to choose some things eventually.

I do have a question about room requests. We booked two standard rooms and requested at time of booking for adjoining rooms. We really don't care where the rooms are but would really like our rooms to connect. Is there anything more I should do to make sure the request is adequately noted? Is there a difference between adjoining and connecting? I feel like a previous poster (maybe even on another thread) said one means rooms near each other and one means a connecting door.

You won't be able to make fp+ selections any earlier than 60 days out.

Connecting means that there is a door inside the two rooms that connect them. Adjoining means you are near or next to each other, but there isn't an interior door.

ETA: In order to increase your chances of getting connecting rooms, make sure you get your rooms linked with a gathering number. All of the reservations in your traveling party will be given the same gathering number. Then put connecting rooms on your room request.
