Thanks for the WL merchandise pics Kook. Looks to be the same stuff as last year so I'll save some money there and find somewhere else to spend it I guess

Just did online check in yesterday. Only options were: Ground floor, 4th, 5th, or 6th floor, Highest floor or near the elevator. No option of north vs. south wing, open to lobby etc. however we are booked for a woods view so may be different for courtyard view. I was disappointed in the lack of choices.

The South Wing inner courtyard view rooms face towards the North and might see some of Wishes over the buildings. The North wing rooms are closer to Roaring Fork, the quick service restaurant and mug fill location.

Overall though you can't go too wrong, as WL is a nice relatively compact resort with everything under one roof. All of the rooms have their benefits, and you can make requests to try to optimize the location for your preferences or just go with it and see what you get. Enjoy, and happy planning.
Thank-you so much for all your info, its helped a lot. I called Disney and requested an inner courtyard room.
Do you happen to know if on-line check is worth it? Does it have its advantages or disadvantages?

Thanks for posting the picture. Those woods view rooms at the end of the north wing really are in the woods, aren't they. I think GrandCalifornian might be right, and the boat noise will be too loud over there.

My DH and I are thinking about requesting the ground floor. It would be by Otter Pond and those rooms do look nice, and very peaceful over there. I saw a picture in the WL room views thread.

We always make sure any requests we have are noted with our reservation. Since online checkin doesn't offer all of the requests, we don't rely on it for location requests. We do still do online checkin, since we see it as more of just a way of saving a little time when we get there by providing our credit card ahead of time. Some people feel that online checkin helps or hurts with location requests but our opinion is that it probably doesn't matter much as long as requests are noted in the reservation. Enjoy your trip.

I have some questions about deluxe connecting rooms, that I wondered if anyone here can help with.

We're thinking about splurging on a deluxe room w/ connecting room on a future trip. I know the deluxe room gets CL access - would the people in the connecting room get CL access as well? If it matters, there will only be 4 of us, so we would all be eligible for CL if we don't spend the money on the extra room and just booked the deluxe.

Also, is it possible to guarantee the room next to the deluxe? I believe you can guarantee a connecting room with suites at some resorts - it essentially turns the suite into a larger suite. But I know that you typically can't guarantee connecting regular rooms.

Hi all I'm excited about our upcoming stay at WL! We've booked a Woods View/Bunk Bed room (with free dining ).

As we've never stayed at this resort, what would be the recommendation for room/location requests?

TIA!

We loved it and highly recommend it. It's lots of fun for the whole family. Disney does a great job with basic "Disney" archery instruction. They even continued in the rain with us. They gave you the option of leaving early or continuing and we chose to continue in the rain (towards the end) and I loved it. It's also very reasonably priced (by WDW standards).

Patience! Yes, that's what I'm often missing. I do have some at the beginning of the trip, but as the novelty wears off, I tend to seek alternative transportation options. That's why WL is great since it has so many. I also love CR's transportation options, especially walking to MK. It's too bad that the monorail has become less and less reliably consistent over the years.

Thanks for reporting this to everyone.

That's not repetitive and welcome! I don't know when WL is due to participate. They aren't participating now, but many from CR have been. I'm sure someone will report here as soon as they're asked if they want to order them. I think this has been occurring about 2-3 weeks prior to arrival. I don't know if the Beta Testing will include all resorts or just some and then full implementation will occur.

The bus to Epcot, AK and HS shared with either GF or FW, which was rather annoying. The good thing was that WL was the first stop on the way back. Hopefully you will have less crowds on your trip then there are right now.
What a great time of year you were able to go. Sounds like you had great weather and crowd levels. I agree that coming back to WL is much easier (except from DTD).

You're welcome. Maybe they will have new Fall/Winter merch. when you're there.

I've said it before, but Disney really needs to increase the resort branded merch. options. Guests seem to really want it (at least I do!), but Disney offers less and less. When I've spoken to Mercantile and BVG managers at CR and WL about it, I'm often told that the managers are always asking for more because guests asks for it, but they never know when or if they'll get any. A couple of managers have said that the branded merch. costs more to produce - fine, so charge a bit more... IDK what the real reason is. Bottom line, I suppose it just doesn't sell well enough. I feel like Poly always seems to have a great selection, but for years, CR hasn't even had one single CR item. I guess we're lucky that WL still has a few things.

OCI selections at all resorts are very limited and often include erroneous choices depending on which room category you're booked. Some resort's choices are more accurate than others. On top of that, the poor Room Assignor ends up potentially with a (conflicting) list of OCI choices and call-in requests attached to some reservations. They do see all the requests and do there best to reconcile them.

OCI can be very mis-leading for those who think it's replaced calling in your request and having it added to your reservation. I feel OCI is great for adding your credit card info. and for making you feel like your vacation is closer.

See my post above yours. Go ahead and do OCI as it won't hurt and your trip will feel closer. You can always go back and edit your OCI info.

You're welcome. That is a very obstructed view, especially if you've paid a premium for a Deluxe room.

ITA and no, OCI will not negate your called-in requests at all. If they conflict, however, that is a possibility. I do it for CL only because I don't have to present a credit card upon arrival which makes check-in even more "magical" when I don't have to be reminded of what the vacation costs... and I potentially get to our room and the parks faster!

Welcome!

My initial response was going to be NO, you can't guarantee a connecting room to a Deluxe and have CL access, but now I'm not sure. The Presidential Suite does have a connecting Standard CL room door in the foyer area which can be booked making it a two-bedroom. But that room is on the CL floor, so if booked, would come with CL access. I know the Deluxe rooms do have connecting Standard rooms so in theory this would be possible, but I have a feeling that if you called the WDTC, your question wouldn't be answered to your satisfaction. I believe you could get a definitive answer though from the CL/IPO. Do you have a CL reservation now? If so, you could call or email the IPO and ask them if this would be possible.

Welcome and congratulations on booking!

Some of the higher rooms in the North Wing can have a partial Wishes view, but some rooms on the 6th floor, do have solid balcony railings. The North Wing would be my preference and there is also a lovely little pond on that side.

Bus sharing

Good morning, I recently read that WL shares buses to EPCOT and HS with either GF or FW. Is the WL the first or 2nd pickup? Also, approximately how long is transportation time to each park once on the bus?
Thank you!

Welcome!

WL is always the first resort picked-up and dropped-off. Sometimes the bus will then go on to either GF or FW. There is more specific WL transportation information, including apx. travel times HERE on the first page.

A few weeks ago, I found that the Epcot bus and the AK bus took the longest. On the way back to WL, however, it is much faster and makes no stops before arriving at WL. The MK bus is non-stop both ways and only takes 5 minutes. The DTD and AK buses also stop at a water park before arriving at the park.

We had connecting rooms 6016 and 6018. Great woods view rooms with full fireworks views! We could also see the castle from 6016 (but not 6018). 6016 is a bunk bed room. We were upgraded from the 2Q woods view rooms we booked to a bunk bed room at no charge. It worked out great for our kids and those bunk mattresses are SUPER comfy! I was pleasantly surprised by that. Our room was in a great location and was clean and well serviced daily.

Transportation was pretty godawful, to be honest. I have never had stellar transportation at the WL, so it wasn't unexpected, but after this stay, I think we are done staying there. It was just so frustrating to have to wait and wait and wait for the boats and buses. Particularly maddening was trying to get back to WL via boat after the fireworks. We were among the first out of the park since we watched from town square, but all the boats coming from the resorts were held up by the ferries that kept crossing. There were 3 ferries in use, and the smaller boats have to yield to the ferry, which I understand, but the ferries were CONSTANTLY either pulling in, pulling out, or crossing. We waited a full 40 min before the first boat showed up going to WL. We were on that first boat, but it was a full HOUR between leaving the park and being back in our room. That is unreasonable, IMO. Buses were slow to come and the stops at FW and GF were just riduculous. I'm over it. Back to the Epcot resorts next time for us!

Territory Lounge was a nice space, but our service there was lackluster. We ordered the cheese fondue and the onion soup, plus a couple beers. The waitress was fairly miserable, and to be frank, the cheese fondue was disgusting. It was overly powdery in texture (due to the cheddar cheese, I assume), and the bread was stale. Luckily, it was "free" since we paid for it with Disney Rewards points, but we were disappointed overall.

We did have a refrigerator in our room, and it was new and worked very well. HOWEVER, it was loud. Like, as loud as the refrigerator in my kitchen. I spent the first day trying to figure out what the noise in our room was from, and incorrectly attributed it to the A/C unit until I realized it was the fridge. On the other hand, the cabinet was not hot at all, and the fridge worked very well, but the trade off is a VERY loud unit. It just hums along all day and night.

Also, the pool slide has some sort of massive duct tape bandaid on the rockwork just above the slide entrance. It looks really, really tacky. It's a section about 1 ft x 2ft long of just overlapping strips of black tape. On the one hand, I am happy that the slide was open during our stay, but on the other hand, it shouldn't remain open looking like THAT! It really should be fixed a.s.a.p.

Roaring Fork has really good food, but they really need to do something to speed up the service in the grill area. I don't understand why they don't premake some stuff during the dining rush hours. EVERY burger, pizza, chicken sandwich, etc is made to order and it takes a LONG time. Even the fries and nuggets are only thrown in the fryer when someone places an order. It's so odd. They should continuously have a batch of nuggets and fries ready to go. And, seriously, they should just eliminate those kids nuggets since they have the other kind. Just make the kids meal 4 of those instead. Twice we ordered kids' nuggets meal for my son and had to wait over 5 min for kids nuggets to fry up when there were regular nuggets in the pan ready to go. So stupid. On the other hand, service in there was very good and we found the quality of the food in there to be excellent (particularly the roast beef sandwich and the flatbreads).
Hello, and thanks for your honest review.

I agree with you on the transportation at WL. It has never been very good. Not sure why. We have had several occasions where we waited over an hour for a bus to Epcot. It is that reason we now stay at the Epcot resorts during the Food and Wine Festival. Even though we love staying at the Lodge, the lost time was killing us.

Regarding the pool. I have a feeling that they may just close the slide down and fix it soon. I can't see they keeping it looking that way. It is probably not structural as if it was they would have it down now. They maybe waiting for the Summer rush and then will close the slide for a couple days. Usually the pool will stay opened.

It's funny you say that about Roaring Forks premaking some items during the rush times. The reason that they don't premake the items anymore was because so many guests complained that the food was not hot and fresh. So now, they only make to order. I wish they had those pre order kiosks!

Hi, I haven't heard anything on this yet. I think that Yacht and Beach are starting but not sure.

For some reason the Wilderness Lodge is like the red headed step child. They seem to always be last deluxe resort in getting anything new Disney starts, like the FP+.

From talking to some cast at Disney, Yacht and Beach are usually the first as they are considered Disney's "Flagship" resorts.

If I hear anything, I will report back.

I'm just under 30 days out for my stay and you're making me nervous! If I want to be at the front gates of MK at 4pm, when should I head for the boat dock? Is there anyway to tell? I deliberately picked WL so I wouldn't have to take a cab or deal with long waits for a bus to the MK. (We lost an hour and a half on a bus to YC last year.)

People staying at the YC have been testing the Magic Bands for several weeks. I really hope WL will be included by the time we go at the end of Nov. I want to get a FP+ for Toy Story Mania. It is the only ride that I would love to be able to schedule.
