Did I read correctly, that guests of the Polynesian will be able to use GF's pool, once the volcano pool is closed?

Thanks!!
Its not a pain to ask but lately I find it hard to answer that question. That question is hard to answer even when there is not all this uncertainty about construction because telling someone what longhouse to request is really based on opinion. That is why I have a page on my site that describes the views and gives my picks and why. Also each of my longhouse pages try and explain the good and bad about the longhouse so you can decide what seems to fit your needs. The bottom line is not to stress over what to request because it is just a request and you canít really pick exactly where you want to stay. They are going to give you what is available and a lot of factors go into that including what time you check in. You could check in early and later your perfect room becomes available or you could check in late and your perfect rooms was taken by someone else who switched rooms.

Now with all the chances of construction coming up it is hard to know what will be happening when so avoiding a certain side of the resort may not be the best thing to do. The work over around Tahiti might not be that disruptive and the stuff at the pool could be very disruptive. Since the are improving the entire resort to some extent there are always chances that even over around the west side of the resort they could be working on, electrical, plumbing or even redoing the paths at some point in the next 2 years. I think there are parts to this project we donít even have a clue about yet.

If you want to be close to the volcano pool then I would suggest Samoa. This is on the side with the but a bit away from it. The front faces the volcano pool and the back faces the quiet pool. I am not sure where to tell you if you have a lagoon or theme park view.
There is a case of different opinions. You see Tuvalu as a nice garden view pick and I would list it as one of the worst (parking lot side of Rapa Nui being the worst). The garden side of Tuvalu looks right into the end of Fiji longhouse so it is basically a view of the stairway of the building unless you are in the couple of rooms on the very ends. I would go with Aotearoa for standard view over Tuvalu anytime but Fiji is a great pick either side.

I personally would go for Samoa, Niue and Rarotonga myself for their location.

Thank you so much for your time and opinion...and now I'm more confused than ever I did read your longhouse pages. Was just confused where the construction fit in with them. And I totally get that it's just a request, but I know they try to accommodate them so I'd like to ask least ask
We are standard (garden) view. Just don't want to be hearing/staring at construction, and semi close to GCH, don't mind being close to pool as I'm sure kids will have us there a bunch! Guess I should of included that info to begin with ! Sorry!

Samoa is on the same side as the pool in fact right in front of it. It is also on the same side as the current construction. Fiji is across the marina from the pool but pretty close to the GCH. Right now most of the construction is on the right side of the resort. What the future holds we do not know. For me at least I am going to request Fiji in hopes that we will get it. For me it is the best of both worlds being in a GV room. Nice view and pretty close to the GCH and on the other side of the resort from the current construction. It really is personal choice but these are the choices I have made for our family.

What are the thoughts about construction and the Hawaii longhouse? It doesn't seem to appear to impact the garden view from there, is that correct? We are booked CL in January and while I know that there will be construction and the volcano pool will be out of commission, we just couldn't stay away on this trip!

Every longhouse has standard view rooms. The construction on the DVC will be on the east side (side closest to the TTC) of Tokelau. The pool construction will be next to Samoa and Niue and across the marina from Tuvalu and Fiji. The least affected areas will be the rooms facing luau cove and the rooms that face in at the east pool.

As far as honoring requests, it is not really a person deciding but they put your request into a system that is supposed to pick the best match. That is why how you describe your request and even how long the request is can be very important. I tell people to keep it simple. The best bet is to be educated on the locations so you can see what is available once you check in but if you do online check in they prefer you donít hold up the process with asking to be relocated if you do not like the room assigned.

We just returned from a week at the Poly. We requested and were given two rooms in Fiji. One was a king room that faced the beach and Grand Floridian, the other two queens that faced marina and Contemporary. From both rooms we could watch the monorail, and from the two queens could see the EWP go by. Fiji is our favorite, close to GCH and pool, and an easy walk to the TTC.

Input appreciated! I'm currently trying to make plans for a large family gathering (with some guests making what will prob be their only trip to the world) and i have a few folks with leanings towards the poly normally id say, awesome this is the perfect trip for it but now im concerned with the renovations. it will be late may/early june... is there any indication about the pool closure times? that would really break the deal with my little ones. we did stay at the gf during the dvc building last dec and that was completely fine... any thoughts tikiman? no biggie if it were just our fam but "making" the trip for the extended fam has me worried. btw im considering cl garden & would be split staying with beach club

Blackdogg, I am in pretty much the exact same situation and am trying to decide if we should just go ahead and book the Poly ( which is the perfect fit for our group), and then just wait and see how the timing of the pool construction plays out? We are also going end of May/beginning of June and thinking of booking CL GV. BTW, we stayed at BC this summer and LOVED it!

Hello all-

Not sure if this has been discussed, but will this affect the Spirit of Aloha? Will it be permanently closed?

Thanks so much!
