Should I reduce my ticker by a year? *update

As you can see, we are a long way off from booking our second trip. I have spent the last few months trying to find a cheaper alternative to Florida to 'tide us over' until we can go back, but I just can't justify spending that amount on a short break/european holiday.

I had decided on August 2016 as middle DD starts secondary school in 2015 and I didn't want her to miss out on the few days before she starts. My thinking was that she might be jet-lagged if we didn't get back until 31st August. Now I'm not too sure.

Pros:
We LOVED WDW and want to go back.
We could afford to go in 2015.
We could return before school starts back.
Oldest DD would be going into Year 11 in 2015 and youngest would be starting Year 3.
I'm worried that the discounts for OKW won't last for ever.

Cons
Would it be better to wait until they are all a year older and go in 2016 as we want to got to Universal too?
Would middle DD enjoy the holiday if she was worried about starting secondary school?

I'm just so fed up of having such a loooong ticker.

You know you want to go for 2015 and if finances allow then go for. Then afterwards planning for no3 can commence

Would 2015 be the last time you go? If not then go for it! If they can't do everything then its just another reason to go back

It would be a distraction for your middle DD as she will forget all about her new school while there.

We have been lucky enough to visit WDW 4 times. And each time have unintentionally chosen key school years for eithr DS or DD ( before starting school; between infant and junior; between junior and secondary; end of 6th form waiting for A level results.) I don't think they even thought about their schooling while at WDW.

They would have stressed more spending the full 6 weeks at home. Instead they spent 3 weeks getting excited about their holiday and 2 weeks having the time of their life. And enough days to prepare for the new term once we were home again.

Our next trip is planned for 2017 so I understand your pain of a long wait.

I don't know that there is ever a "right time" but for me, our next WDW trip is what keeps us going and motivates us. I give you a lot of credit for being able to have a 3 year ticker because I'd probably be in full blown WDW withdrawal depression!

If you can afford to go in 2015, I'd bring it forward!

Sorely tempted and I agree there is never a 'right time'. I am going to give this some serious thought. I promised we would always 'do' Disney at regular intervals: DLP in 2005, then again in 2009, then WDW in 2012... If money wasn't an issue, I would go every year, maybe more regularly than that!

2015...it means I would be booked this time next year....

After 24 hours of careful consideration, I have decided to go back to WDW in 2015, shaving off a whole year of waiting.

Life is too short.
I want to go.
I will (hopefully) be able to afford to go.
I loved planning the trip.
I can book it in January 2014.
My family will love me for it.

I've been planning our next trip since we arrived back in 2010, we go every 4/5 years, we are going next August and I've had the villa booked since last August.

I say if it feels right then go when you can, Disney always takes your mind off anything at home, we leave home at the airport and forget about it for 3 weeks.

Well done for making the decision

Planning a trip really lifts my spirits and gives me something positive to focus on. Our trip last year was superb. It cost me a small fortune but I did not begrudge one single penny/cent. I feel really happy with the decision.
