How long should I allow for dining?

If we pick first seating at 5:45pm, what time should we plan on being done? Trying to make plans, etc.

7-30 8 at the latest considering the second show starts at 8:30 and the second seating is at 8:15. I would plan for 7:30-7:45 though.

I always have early dinning and take my time. I still am at the show when doors open at 8:15. I have time to drop by my room and get there by 8:00. I have never thought about how long or what time I get out but after thinking about where I go next and when I am there I would say you will be out of dinner about 7:30 not rushing it.

Early seating is going to be a quicker meal service since they have to get you out and the dining reset for the late dining folks. And if you need to be done by a certain time, let your servers know. I would expect they want you done by 730.

We are leisurely diners, which is one of the reasons we take late seating. We usually were in the dining room for 2 hours.

This is one of the changes in the cruise industry, quicker dinners. My first cruise, there was only one seating, 6 pm, and dinner lasted until 9:30 pm. 12 gourmet courses. There were no other dining options, and basically all the other services and venues on the ship were shut down during dinner.
The night club on that ship didn't even OPEN until 1:30 am.

On our Magic cruise in January they had entertainment at 7:30 each night that they called "in-between" shows. It was after first seating, before second seating, so everyone could make it. This would lead me to believe that DCL's goal is to have everyone out by 7:30.

We had early seating, and I don't think we were ever there past 7:30. I would imagine they'd start kicking people out at about 7:45 to get ready for the next dinner.

On a few nights we let our servers know we wanted to be out quickly, and both of those nights we were done about 6:45 (skipping dessert), so if you have plans to do something just let your server know.

We always do early dining. It usually takes 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours. We are done in plenty of time to stop by the cabin and then head to the evening show.

We were just on the Magic in April with early dining. We usually were done between 7:30 and 7:40. We have a 2 year old who is very impatient so we actually would take him down to the nursery each night around 6:30, and then we would come back to finish dinner. The servers were excellent and would have his meal out with 15 min of us arriving at dinner.
