No fish! Help with how to hang my FE.

We got our GYT room assigned and as I begun reading reports about it seems to be that because of where/how our room is placed there is no fish outside the door. So thankful for trip reports so I know this now instead of when we get to our room!

So I'm thinking our FE needs to be hung on the door. Any suggestions on a good heavy duty magnet hook type thing we could use, or a suggestion on where to look for something like that (hardware store?) I just want to find something that will not slip down the door and we find or FE on the ground each night

TIA!!

I've never seen a room that didn't have a fish (or seahorse - starboard side on the Dream class ships) outside the door. And I've been on all four ships.

I would suggest one of the bigger command hooks and just attach a strong magnet with super glue or hot glue (instead of the command strip thingie b/c sticky things are a no-no). They should be strong enough to hold a few pounds without slipping! :-) You might test it out on your fridge before you leave, though.

I have heavy-duty magnet hooks I use for the wreath on my front door, I bet a couple of those might work. I think I bought them at Michaels...

On the Wonder/Magic, there are so many layers of paint that few magnets will work, and will hold no weight.

If there isn't a plus to this room, have you tried to see if another room is available? You may have no luck, but others have gotten a change after their cabin assignment before. No harm in trying.

Could you run something over the top of the door to hold it in place? I'm thinking something strong but thin like parachute cord, with a magnet or counterweight on the other side. If someone put something heavy in, the cord/door would hold it. I guess it might fall when you open the door, but at least you'll be right there.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it! We'll be on the Fantasy so hopefully less layers of paint! Worst case we hang it from the door knob! I'll be on the look out for magnetic hooks.

I'm guessing, since DCL has banned over-the-door organizers, that anything hung over the top of the door is out.

We just go tthe room assignment yesterday, so I haven't had the chance to see if there was anything else available. But that is a good idea as well. I'll figure something out. And maybe the post I found on there being no fish was old and they've added one now and the OP was correct about there being fish for all rooms? Thanks!

IDK, they might be inclined to make an exception for something very specific, small, and soft. You don't know unless you ask.

Is this an aft handicap room? That's the one I've read about not having a fish before.

Yup, that's exactly what it is. We were 9A GYT and got it assigned to us. So who knows, b/t now and the cruise we might get bumpped if someone needs it so I might be figuring all this out for nothing

Occasionally DCL actually uses the fish to leave something official for each stateroom on board, like a written quote for a future cruise you want to book while you're onboard. If there's no fish for that room, where do the cast members leave the official stuff? The doors are supposed to be water tight, which would make it difficult to slide something under. And it's not fair to the handicapped guest to have to pick up something off the floor.

Bring some strong twine, tie it to the doorknob inside, run it up and over the top of the door, and then tie your FE to it on the outside.

And please, let me know what cabin this is, as we have 9A GTY's on the Fantasy in October!

I don't know that the doors are watertight. On our Magic/Wonder cruises, the last night they slipped our bill under the door.
