Fashion advice for your "teenage self"

Talked about this at work today... If you could go back in time and be your best friend, what beauty tips would you share?
I know we all looked awesome back in our highschool days, but if you could tweak 1 or 2 things, what would you go back and change?

I was in HS in 1979-83. Hair was perfect, make up perfect, every outfit planned to a "T".

I spent at LEAST an hour getting ready for school every morning.

I would have told my younger self to WEAR sunblock and not tan with baby oil. Oh the damage I did.

Stop starving yourself to be thin, it killed your metabolism and now you are super fat.

Great job avoiding the sun! People think you are nuts to be so pale, but you are doing a great job!!! And that time in your early 20's when you try nude sunbathing.....skip it! You won't have the pain and seeping skin if you just stick to your regular routine!

I graduated in 83, and I looked awesome!! Lol....maybe not quite so many perms in the early 80s. Totally agree about the baby oil too. Otherwise wouldn't have changed a thing.

Ah... 1989-1992. I had the "claw" bangs. Oh and my husband (a teen boy back then) just thought most Girls had naturally curly hair

So I would have embraced my straight and smooth locks... Instead of frying and teasing them beyond recognition.

In a similar vein, I was talking to friend about how our kids are so instagram crazy. For example, today, when faced with a random pic of me from 1990 I might cringe a bit. But other than a dusty old yearbook, there are few reminders.

What will the teens today think when they are 40 and faced with a gazillion digital selfies floating around... Half of which in a duck face pose

Forego the mullet. Your kids will make fun of you for it for days on end.

Smelling like a horse doesn't make you a cavalryman
I'd wear a pair. I might even be able to get Mrs. Tex to wear some
I need to provide sufficient background in every post to make sense

Loosen up, kid. Let your hair grow a little. You're not impressing anybody by trying to look responsible. And lose the plaid shirts.

First off I would tell my 16 year old self to wear a bikini because that body will never be back again..lol. I would also like a previous poster..skip the tanning. Finally I would make sure that I didn't wear grandmother of the bride like dresses for my proms. Ughh...what was I thinking??

I would say to myself - You aren't as fat as you think you are, not even close! Wear something to show off your cute figure instead of baggy plaid shirts! (I was in high school 93-97, the "grunge" period).

Also, have a little more self-confidence/self-esteem. They boys aren't making fun of you, they were really interested in you!

Calm down with the Aqua net hairspray, lol. Because a guy will almost set your hair on fire at a Journey concert with a cigarette, lol. But I do miss the 80's.

Skip the curly perm (hello prom of 1981) and love your straight hair!

Like someone else said...

you aren't fat, you're perfect! Wear a cute bathing suit, a bikini even...don't be ashamed of your body! You are beautiful the way you are!

I now this is new, but your hair is naturally curly and big. It's the 80's - get some mousse and enjoy it now while it's cool! Stop trying to brush it the way you used to.

Keep rocking those leg warmers.

Save the t shirts you bought at the concerts because later on you are going to see a band t shirt and pay again lol.

Wear Polo instead of Stetson even if you think Polo smells like turpentine. For some reason, girls love it. Class of '85
