Costco as travel agent

I am all booked for a cruise in 2014. I was wondering if anyone has booked through Costco.
They are telling me I can transfer my reservation over to them and I can keep my same room pay the same price and get a substantial Costco gift card. I am trying to understand if there is a downside. I booked our last cruise directly through Disney without any issues.

The downside is that you would have to make any changes to your reservations (or even some requests like dining) through your agent. I think it is a small price to pay for getting a gift card, but it's up to you.

We transferred our reservation to Costco to get the gift card for a cruise in a few weeks. The only downside is if you need to make any requests regarding your cruise (dining rotation, pre-paid gratuities, etc.) you are supposed to call Costco to have them contact Disney for you. To me this was a non-issue and we get a very nice gift card a few weeks after the cruise.

I changed my reservation to get the gift card. You do not receive it until after you travel. If you booked onboard and the reservation is more than 30 days old you may not get the discount and OBC. Check with them. I got conflicting info from Disney and costco and decided not to risk it.

Thanks for the response! I am tempted but hesitant. Do you still get to go online for check in, excursions etc...

We just booked our first cruise through Costco and then we needed to make changes and they did that for us without any issues at all.

We've used Costco for 3 cruises now. We are happy with them and love the cash card that arrives after our cruise!

If you book onboard and name Costco as your TA, do you have to have the name of an individual there or just the name of Costco?

Do you have to be a member at the time of booking AND cruising to use Costco as travel agent?

Just curious... and I know this can vary, but how big of a gift card are we talking? We are costco members and have a cruise booked for spring break next year. I'm wondering if it's worth it to transfer the booking.

Is there any cutoff time? Could I wait until right before final payment so I could make any changes myself up until then?

Thanks!
