Sad find in the yard this morning....dead newborn deer

We found a dead newborn baby deer in our front yard this morning. It is still wet from being born but there is some bloody area on its belly with black things that look like strings hanging out. It's really sad. Does anyone have any idea why this would have happened in our front yard? I thought deer were born in brush areas. Could it have been stillborn or come unexpectedly?

I think it may be a little early for that. Could be there was a problem with the pregnancy.

Oh, on the flip side, we had two fawns wandering around in our yard last Summer in the middle of the day - something we'd never seen in our yard before

Maybe it was born unexpectedly and had some kind of hernia. The black strings might be intestines.

Sorry you had to find it.

Aww, sorry you had to wake up to that. Maybe something attacked it after it was born?

So sad. What a horrible thing to find in your yard. Heartbreaking.
