I didn't know they had homeschool days. We are homeschooling for the first time next year.

Nope, but if you're itching for a homeschool trip Carolina Homeschooler takes one every year. This year they're going in November, registration ends 7/15, and she is getting great deals at WDW, Universal, and Sea World. Check her website if you want more info.

The date is October 9th but no additional info other than the date.

My TA told me about 2 or so weeks ago and I called the Youth Education Department to confirm.

Have any of you been before? Does it affect the crowds at the parks a great deal? It seems fun and I am interested to go- love homeschooling flexibility!

Pricing is the same as in January as far as I can tell. Thankfully they did not change the way they price the tickets like they did with the Individual YES program. The tickets will only be valid Oct 1-18 (Tuesday-Friday!). That is annoying. I wish they had gone back to September dates for Homeschool Days. The Food and Wine Festival will make those days busier than we like, and there are no room only discounts right now for October.

We might go with the South Carolina group in November instead. It is only slightly more expensive: http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/atravelwdw.html

I think I have read on the boards that room only discounts (or any other October discounts) for October won't be released probably until July or August.

Where is the homeschool days information posted? I've been trying to find details on it for the past while and am not sure where to look!

Can someone walk me through how this works and the expenses?

If we want to go, since DS will be 9 we have to have at least one adult with him during the program. DS has to have a special YES ticket; he can't just use his AP, right? And the adult...would the adult have to have the special YES ticket as well? And if the other parent wanted to join (b/c what else would DH or I be doing?), they have to have the YES ticket as well?

Is there a cost for the actual program, or is it all in the YES tickets?

Thanks in advance! It's happening to fall during our trip, and that sounds like a lot of fun, but it's just super-annoying that they don't just charge for the program, instead of the tickets. (unless of course they charge for tickets AND program)

ETA, I found the FAQ, which is answering some of my questions. But real life experiences would be lovely as well.

ETAagain, "only one parent/adult chaperone may attend the Individual Enrollment class with your student(s)."? Lovely. What fun for a 3 person family.

I have never been but it is my understanding that the homeschool days are not the same as a YES individual enrollment class. You can add those on as additions to your homeschool class for a fee if you'd like. But you are only required to go to the one homeschool class on the 9th at HS. The cost for that is included in the discounted ticket prices that you buy. You would have no problem buying three discounted tickt prices for your whole family and all of you will be able to attend the Homeschool Day class at HS.

Someone correct me if I am wrong on anything.
