Then our last update sent last night was from a new reporter who arrived at Disney World yesterday, Lisa (lisatav).

She first sent a few travel food pics...

Lisa said, "We made it! The first picture is from the airport. I got an iced caramel macchiato from the airport Starbucks, of course this is just to compare to the Main Street Starbucks."

"

"The second picture is a snack on the plane. Fruit and cheese crackers. Nobody liked the crackers."

"At MCO we stopped for McDonald's but it was gone before I got a picture!"

Then for their first Disney meal, they headed to the Grand Floridian last night to have dinner at...

Lisa said, "We had a wonderful time at 1900."

"First buffet pictures. It was crowded so I only got a few."

"First plate is mine. Second Ashley, third Katie and fourth my second plate. Then dessert and a family photo!"

"We enjoyed the food a lot! Much better then our last Disney buffet. Stand outs were the tomato and mozzarella, stir fry, beef stew, rice and pot stickers."

Great job Tina with your record breaking points!! You definitely set the bar high!

Amanda (MissPrice) I was definitely on the look out for you last week but it was a bit crowded. The crowds at DLR tend to be more locals except for when the summer season starts and many APs are blacked. Plus there seems to be less tour groups so yeah, I'd say a bit more chill is a good way to describe it.

Ahhhh that Pina Colava from Wendydagny - with the heat wave here that looks mighty refreshing!!

Speaking of the Disneyland Resort, let's check in with our current Disneyland reporter, Incredibleboysmom.

She and her family had lunch yesterday at California Adventure's...

"This restaurant is so beautiful. It is a 3/4 replica of the Carthay Circle Theater which hosted the premiere of the Snow White film of 1937."

"Photos of Walt Disney are everywhere."

Like this one with Shirley Temple...

No introduction is needed for this one...

Some menu pics...

"We started with the House Fried Biscuits...

Carthay Signature Fried Biscuits - Stuffed with White Cheddar, Bacon, and Jalapeno, and served with Apricot Honey Butter.

"Sourdough bread was also served..."

"DH and I both had the Short Rib Ravioli..."

Sauteed Short Rib Raviolis in Sage Brown Butter with Portobello Mushrooms, Red Pepper and Cabernet Jus

"The kids had Crispy Chicken Tacos..."

"My 13 year old requested an adult portion of these and was served 4 instead of 2. The kids tacos were tiny, and they were all hungry again soon after lunch.""

"For desserts, we shared the Rocky Road Brownie and the Chocolate Cake."

Warm Rocky Road Brownie - Toasted Macadamia Nut with Coconut Shavings, Caramel Sauce and Marshmallow Ice Cream

Cordillera Chocolate Decadent Layer Cake - Classic Dark Chocolate Layer Cake with Raspberry Sauce

"I was a little disappointed overall with this meal. Nothing was bad, but there just wasn't the OMG YUM factor for me that I have experienced at Disney World signature restaurants before."

"Our check was about $170 and it really didn't feel like that great of a meal for the price. For me, the desserts were the best, especially the brownie."

"I am glad that we dined here however, simply because the restaurant is so stunning. I would go again, but would probably enjoy it more without kids."

Our next update was sent to us by Wendydagny from their lunch today at DHS'...

Here is what Wendy had...

Zellwood Corn Bisque with crab and sweet corn beignets

"Total heaven in a bowl."

"Rack of lamb with corn and blue cheese puree. Unfortunately my son got sick before I could start this, and I had to deal with that. It was ok but cold so not fair to judge."

And for dessert, she had the...

Chocolate Three Ways - Praline Milk Chocolate Cream, crunchy Ganache, and Orange-Chocolate Mousse

"Meh."

For his appetizer, her DH had...

Andouille-crusted Prawn over Black Diamond Cheddar Grits, Wilded Greens, and Ancho Oil

And for his entree, he chose the...

Ashley Farms Free-Range Breast of Chicken served over House-made Spiced Chorizo, Yellow Plantain Hash, and an Avocado and Heirloom Tomato Purée

"He really enjoyed this."

Double Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee with Dark Chocolate-dipped Biscotti

"Worst creme brulee ever. Texture was just bad."

Her DD had this Kids Meal...

Grilled Black Grouper served with Oven-roasted Potatoes, and Steamed Broccoli

"She enjoyed the fish but not so much the broccoli."

And for dessert...

Fresh Fruit cup with mango sorbet

Then Lisa also sent us a dinner update from POR's...

Riverside Mill

"Dinner was at Riverside Mill since the rain never let up. We ad three Create your own Pastas and a Kids Pizza.

Carthay Circle always looks amazing to me. My husband is now obsessing over the cheesy fried biscuits.

For our last update of the day, we have Wendydagny's dinner update from Animal Kingdom Lodge's...

First some menu pics...

Wendy started with a cocktail...

Jiko Sunriser - Parrot Bay Rum, Banana liqueur, orange, pineapple and cranberry juices.

"Absolutely delicious and smooth. Very nice size as well."

"Adults had a cheese plate but I forgot the picture. Very nice variety and accompaniments...seemed more unique and varied than boards at other locations."

For her entree, Wendy chose the...

Oak-grilled Filet Mignon with Local Pole Beans, Spoon Bread Souffle, and South African Red Wine Sauce

"I thought that the Mac and cheese combo was the best, but I was absolutely wrong. This was even better! The spoon bread was cheesy, with corn and peppers. Just lovely."

"Couldn't resist a side of the Mac though!"

Her DH chose this entree...

West African "Jerked" Scallops with Basmati Rice, Red Quinoa, Baby Rainbow Carrots, and Coconut Curry Sauce

"He raved about this dish!"

"DD had the Kids Steak with ancient grains..."

"Very impressive and refined for a Kids meal. She loved it and said it was the best she'd ever had!"

"My dessert was the Coffee Creme Brulee with mini donuts..."

Kenyan Coffee Creme Brulee - Kenyan coffee and Amarula creme brulee, cake koeksisters, and creme anglaise

"The white chocolate butterfly was a nice touch."

"DH had the Tea Safari..."

Chocolate and Tea Safari - Vanilla rooibos-Tanzanian chocolate cake, free form "kit kat" and green tea ice cream

"He thought the cake was lovely but didn't enjoy the ice cream. DD ate it all though."

"Both eating kids (DD6 doesn't eat for medical reasons) had the Safari S'mores..."

"I think they licked their plates!"

They also received complimentary cookies...

"Picture taken after the kids already swiped theirs. Very nice ending."

"We had great service and a delicious meal. The kids are already plotting to get back there this week!"

Why do I follow this thread? Hours ago, I had eliminated Jiko from our July plans. But there's something new on the menu that we really want to try, and now I'm debating whether to add it back in or not!
